I have a polished chrome Ingersoll impregnable CS712 in use from the 1970’s… fantastic quality lock. I did key it alike to my SC71 when I had one on the door with the A section!

Perhaps you can help…. Back in the early 80’s we had a shop in Streatham, London An elderly guy used to come in who said his father had The Willen key company and that his father had designed the original M6 lock. He brought one in stamped Willen 6 lever and looked just like Ingersoll ‘s version. I am wondering if it was Jack Taylor but don’t know if he ever had the Willen company….

Hi, yes is was Jack Taylor that came up with the M6, here is a quote from Andrew Taylor (Jack Taylor's son): "In 1958 Len Young invited Jack W Taylor to join the British Standards panel who were writing the BS3621 specification. At one of these meetings he saw an opportunity and designed a six lever mortice deadlock with 250,000 differs. A down-rated version of the lock was made with 600 differs and sold through the Willen Key Company in London for several years.
