A while ago we set up shop in Nashville to capture performances from some of country music’s most promising acts. Ingrid Andress fit the bill perfectly. The Berklee College of Music grad has a deep gift for songwriting (her major at the prestigious music school). Sly wordplay is a staple in country music of course, so her skills were in high demand once she relocated to Nashville. While there, she amassed credits in both country (Sam Hunt) and pop (Charli XCX), and then it became time for her own glow up. Debuting on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “More Than Mine” was a solid start. Then 2020's ‘Lady Like’ album broke the country Top 10, proving she had exactly what it takes to reach an audience. The crowds enjoying Keith Urban’s tour have been treated to Andress’ on-stage magic, the same kind we captured here. “Maybe I’m just wishful drinking/Give my heart something to sink in.” Clever lines, taken from one of the strongest tracks on her upcoming ‘Good Person’ album, due August 26.
