Her playing form 23 mins to 27 mins is the best I’ve heard. Although the variation is “adagio cantabile”, her interpretation remains candid and true, and is not too emotional or soft, while the essence of Mozart- a sense of warm elegance flows in the melody.
From 23 mins to 27 mins she is untouchable. Compared to everyone she is in a class of her own. I must have listened to 20 different versions. I haven't heard Horowitz play this bit. Is so beautiful. She makes it live forever in your heart.
I have done an abridged version of such exercise (perhaps 5 different versions) with the rondo in A minor and came down with the same conclusion. This lady is astonishing.
At a very tender age my parents gave me an LP-Box with all Mozart-Sonatas played by Ingrid Haebler. To me ... to this very day ... she is one of the best Mozart Interpreters. Of course I tried to "adapt" her "touch" during my studies ... ;o) Grateful to my parents forever, for having set the spark. Thank YOU for posting!
+mmbmbmbmb I also boought an LP-Box with all Mozart-Sonantas played by Ingrid Haebler. After that day I love to listened to her play of Morzart- Sonatas. I couldn't listened to this beautiful music thorough LP so far. Thank you for uploading.
I had never heard of this woman till the Phillips Great Pianists discs came out a decade or more ago and I wondered who was this woman Brendel believed in . I bought her by accident in Chopin waltzes but didn't listen carefully now after hearing her in everal mozart sonatas I know she has a n impossibly great piano technique and bst judgement about the pedal . She is one of the greatest Mozartean we have on disc. Schiff , Uchida , Perahia,Gieseking none of them exceed her . She wont record the Bartok concerti , Debussy etudes or the Schonberg concerto : she decided where her field would be many decades ago but there is nothing she can't say on a piano . She seems ideal for Schubert and Schumann . Her Papillon would be a miracle. I hope we have a symphonic etudes or Kreisleriana in recital from her .
here and there a subtle shift of speed in an otherwise stone solid rhythm gives this music its aristocratic nobility. Emotions are not to be refrained but contained. Her touch , expression, nothing harsh, nothing picky, always perfectly balanced voices : that kind of sense of detail is proof to long and deep thinking about this sonata. I've always been a fan . I also love Joao Pires . Would i compare the two, Pires shows a more feminine color to the music, as Haebler is somewhat more masculine. Yet both are deep, elegant, beautiful .
Her interpretation and touch, to me, seem identical to Wanda Landowska ? Also the piano sounds the same as the upright shown in the Landoska K332. Wonderfull.
The title says Ingrid Haebler is playing this, but why the description has a lot of different artists names?? Which one is actually playing in this recording?
The best touch and judgement I've ever heard. Schif!!!f, Uchida !!!, Barenboim! Perahia !,Horszowski,Levin,Eschenbach in that class. Landowska ,Arrau ,Geiseking are the very worst .Unimaginably disGUSTING .NO GOUT tout .Haebler could teach everyone born before 1940 some Mozart style - it is very difficult to articulate like this .Coin etudes are easy compared this type of emotional recision , clity , touch , lean knoledgable pedaling. I'll play Godowsky before I can get one note of this .How is it done ? Hearing it is unbelievable !
