@@ggutsmaybe an old 80's rwd american shitbox, and i know it is a sports car but the foxbody mustang would be a good fit in my opinion There is also the chevy chevette that ik weird choice but it is a shitbox, it is from the 80's, and rwd so yeah, and it is basically the brazilian equivelant to the 86
Um what? No. No it wasn't. It's been around longer than that. The C5 was an answer to shit sales of the C4 due to stupid carb rules. It wasn't even funded by GM itself. Every similiarity that the corvette had with the RX7 started BEFORE the FC was released.
personally think a delorean fits better than a foxbody. simply because of the... body. i think it looks more similar to an 86. but i do see what you're saying. bunta would never
A C5/C6 is literally the perfect car for Keisuke, it's exactly how I woulda cast it. But I would've given Takumi something more like a Mustang SVO or an Omni GLH-S. Edit: no, t_rexbr2702 is right, it has to be a Chevette.
@@t_rexbr2702 ooh a Chevette is better actually. RWD, lightweight, super modifiable. They're way better on a track than you'd expect, I know multiple people who use them in endurance racing. Plus, it has the exact WTF factor you want for this scene.
I think that the car that should be called the ""American Toyota AE86"" should be the Mustang Foxbody... both: They are hatchbacks both: They are from the 80s both: They are rear wheel drive 🗣️🔥
Heh, I remember when I was studying I bought an AE86, which a girl in my class confused for a Delorean, she said and I quote “isn’t your car the one from that movie Back to the Future?”
@@RayBenedictTaer Yup, another thing that happened on that regard was another girl handing out flyers on the street told me the car looked like Speed Racer’s car, even though they look nothing alike, but that’s non car people for ya
This is great, but I saw an animation where someone made initial D American and the car was a Foxbody. The DeLorean is great, but the Foxbody is perfect.
@@gguts Oh I think it kinda looks like the AE86. If you squint your eyes and look from a small distance. But it's not that it looks similar as to why I think it works. I think it works because some maniac at ford stuck a 5 litre V8 into that thing.
@@gguts I think it's less looks, more they're both kinda cheap communter cars that can be thrown around anyways. The base of an AE86 is still a Corolla.
DeLorean DMC 12 is slower than a Hachiroku. The AE86 Corolla’s with the 1.8L 4A had a top speed of 100mph/161kph, and could break 115 on basic bolt on mods and a bit of weight reduction. Meanwhile, the DeLorean had a top speed of 75mph and breaking that going downhill was the equivalent of redlining a BMW(guaranteed engine failure). The Corolla 86 also had tighter suspension tuning from the factory than its economy car companions, but the DMC 12 had looser suspension, which made it ride like a heavier Lincoln or Cadillac. Fun fact, there are two types of DeLorean owners, the preservationists/lock it in a garage until Gumball Rally Week, and the “Will It Fit” guys/engine swappers.
Low power and mid engined, with infamously "ruined" handling because DMC fucked it's suspension up after Lotus carefully tuned it. It's driftable under the right conditions but 3/4 times you'd most likely go into a spin due to snap oversteer or it refuses to drift due to rear wheel grip and weight balance being much better than front
There's a few American contemporaries of the AE86 to consider, but the DeLorean is not one of them. DeLoreans were never cheap disposable fun like the AE86 was up until Initial D, Keiichi Tsuchiya, and time/entropy killing decent examples priced them out of the hands of the common young man. Here are some good American contemporaries: Any GM T-body platform (Chevette), Chevy Vega/Monza, Mustang II, Pinto, etc.
@@gguts Chevette was never that popular in the US, but in the rest of the world, it was a lot more popular. Here's the British (Vauxhall) contemporary that's essentially the same car...just better. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ufqj9AIX-kE.html
The reason why people are complaining about the DeLorean and rather suggesting that is should be a foxbody mustang (or really any 80s American RWD smaller car or hell even something older if you'd really want to have the underdog factor to it) is because of the back to the future movies making the DeLorean a desirable car thus prohibitively expensive even at this point in time in Initial D. Even if it would be a valid choice of it being RWD.
For those saying it should've been a foxbody mustang, the DeLorean also does work in this situation since realistically its an underpowered junkbox just like the 86 😂
Now what would be perfect is since they're making a sequel series for initial d your little fan animation or wherever this comes from would be awesome to see updated versions yes I know that DeLorean has a new version and it doesn't really DeLorean delorean from way back when but still the new alpha DeLorean and the c8
I like the idea of the Takahashi brothers driving a C4 and C5 corvette to mirror the FC and FD of the RX-7 but think it'd be a lot funnier if they drove cars manufactured by the Dodge Bros. Also yes, Foxbody Mustang ABSOLUTELY should've been what American Takumi was driving. Bunta must be using Takumi as a drug mule if he can afford a Delorean on a food vendor's finances.
I'd change the DeLorean for a 5.0 Foxbody (since it fits the body shape, and the year), but man, that's a great reinterpretation lol Also: C4, C5 and C6 Vettes are USA's RX-7.
Wouldn't the team be called the Bald Eagles here? :D Also while the DeLorean fits aesthetically, and people are suggesting a Foxbody Stang, I think a modified AMC Pacer would fit well thematically.
Do people realize that the AE86 was an economy car Corolla? Drifting is not for racing anyway. If drivers in the faster cars wanted to stay ahead, they should have driven normally like they would on a race track.
I thought I heard that the DeLorean was actually gonna be an initial D but they canceled it. Something in those lines? Back when they were making the show.
