Initial D - FC3S vs R32 (Ryosuke vs Shinigami) [Initial D: Fifth Stage] Anime: Initial D: Fifth Stage Music: The End of The World - Dream Fighters / Kaori's Theme (Ave Maria) - Initial D 5th Stage
It’s very unfortunate that not many people have seen this race due to Funimation not finishing the series for English audiences. This is honestly one of the best races in Initial D. This race has so much at stake and for the first time you actually don’t know how it will end.... everything in the race is absolutely fantastic. Initial D has some damn good writing sometimes.
Fifth Stage gets a lot of flack for it's overreliance on the racer's connection to the car justifying the outcome of the race and less technical breakdowns of races, but honestly, if you ask me, This race right here completely makes up for it!
Ryosuke was dating Kaori, they met in med school but her father arranged her marriage with Hojo, she didn't want that, she felt like she had no way out and committed suicide, but she said goodbye to Ryosuke because she actually loved him Hojo blames Ryosuke and hates him for having moved on so quickly, to him, whoever dies in this race is who Kaori chooses to be with in the after life, when his brakes fail, he stops trying to kill Ryosuke and accepts his fate in the after life alongside Kaori but Ryosuke and Ikeda saved him
@@JSGT9016 it's also worthy to mention that Ryosuke didn't move on, he simply started hiding his pain in fact, the only reason Ryosuke started Project D is because Kaori told him to follow his dream, he's doing it to honor her memory, the D stands for Dream
the fact that they were able to mix in a dark backstory with racing the touge really shows how amazing the director is for the show.. i went through a roller coaster of emotions from act 8 to act 11😃
he managed to sneak in the Newtype telepathy fuckery from Gundam too, notice how they communicate without speaking to each other in their cars throughout the race.
Both have Suffered from Sadness after Kaori Commited Suicide, But Ryosuke prefer to forget the Past while Hojo Rin doesn't and then He become Very Depressed, Suicidal, and Revengeful to Ryosuke for the Death of Kaori
I think it's not Ryosuke's fault for Kaori's Suicide cause she wanted to be with him but Hojo was stopping her and when she refused he said that her father's business will suffer and she was cornered
@@JapaneseSoomi his name is Rin Hojo but everyone called him "Shinigami" Which translates to grim reaper cause his reckless driving like bashing to people's cars and spinning people out
Big attention to detail, I thought it was a rotating road tire, but I didn't see the gutter in the tire, Even though Ryosuke's tire gutters are clearly visible, I'm just not paying attention
I wonder how the rest of the show would go if Ryosuke died during this race or if Zero didn’t show up to help slow the R down. Instead of Takumi and Keisuke winning the rest of their races because they wanted to, or because of the whole street-racer’s-pride thing and Project D, they’d win them for revenge. Kinda fun to imagine stuff like this.
I think Fumihiro as Ryosukes longtime friend would carry on, with Keisuke's help cause at this point they're pretty much faster than Ryosuke have the tools to go on. But not sure if they carry on the project d plan to Mf ghost.
@@jeypi__ But, you know, zero was confused why ryosuke doesn't try to run away from Shinigami, which pretty much means ryosuke wasn't driving at his best
I know that the song says " this is the end of the world" but sometimes I like to think that it says "this is the end of the road". It just kinda adds more meaning to the song I guess
I understand that Fifth stage gets a lot of flack for it's auras and rubber-banding Fujiwara Zone, but this race right here was one of the best in the entire series imo.
Fujiwara zone is just him exiting corners at high speeds, plus some illusions. It's not a technique, it's a state where Takumi is at full control of his car
“When ryosuke said our drivers have passed my skill” I didn’t think so, the closest to a wall run the guys did was takumi’s gutter run, keisuke did the bridge with oil run
In terms of a race I think he’s right, they’d probably both be able to beat him. But in terms of pure driving instincts ryosuke is on another level. I don’t even think bunta could’ve pulled off such a performance
This race shows one of the many examples in Initial D (mainly 4th and 5th Stage) of the amounts of LSD japanese street racers are on (I'm talking mainly about 3:30, 2:47, 3:46)
@@pdr_2703 It starts in the fourth. I've watched third stage and this type of shit doesn't happen. It seemingly starts in late Fourth Stage (it's been a while but I'm pretty sure) with the Fujiwara Zone but I guess whoever directed Fifth Stage snorted some coke and decided to take the nonsense way higher. Dumb thing is that Fifth Stage started some real LSD but in Final Stage none of this really happens other than some Fuji-teleporting-wara Zone here and there.
This race really hit me in a certain way, because in the race one has let go of the tragedy’s that’s happened in the past, and the other refuses to do the same. It reminds me of my mom and dad.. Both of them had some really fucked up childhoods, both equally sick. But my mom rarely ever talks about it if I don’t ask. My dad on the other hand brings up his childhood all the time to me, saying I have it easy all the time. (I mean I do, but it’s just the thought he had to say it out loud) Their both doing alright, It’s just this race really hits home
When they both remembered kaori reyosuke describes her personality while hojo remembers her beauty, this is the reason why he didn’t understand how she wanted them to move on.
I understand Hojo Rin a bit...In my case my girlfriend didn't take her own life (thanks god) but she ended up with another guy after years toghether. It's a total different situation but I blame myself like Rin because maybe if I take more care she did never leave, he talked shit to her, I neve did but I neglet her, and I blame the Ryosuke of my story because he taken her from me. In my case I have to live all life seeing her away from me, I'm happy if she is happy, but she is? Who knows, is not on my shoulder anymore to ask that...I'm certanley not happy. What I mean is that I understand the reasons of his depression and anger for losing the only one you have ever loved. I'm not a kid anymore I am nearly 30 so I know that she was the last one, I cannot imagine myself with others neither I want. For a coincidence, the night she left me I see this precise episode of Initial D trying to distract myself and instead I cryed like a baby, I like to imagine that was a sign for me to learn trought Rin's redemption the right thing to do is starting to live again. I dunno if I can, not at the moment but I hope I will.
@@jeyjey7777 I hope you find a woman with a shining soul, someone to dispel the darkness and bring warmth to your heart. I wish you a long life together, a life filled with laughter and tears. I wish for you to have a beautiful family, a family that stays together and always looks out for one another. And I wish that, at the end of your lives, you pass on together peacefully surrounded by the smiling faces of your children, and your children’s children.
What I learnt from this arc is that if you having an affair with someone your ten times more likely to become a edgy emo who spends his time trying to murder people on a mountain pass whilst the police dont give a shit.
The whole build up and the race itself was amazing, for the first time we saw Ryosuke being „scared“ to face someone where he even had to upgrade his car to compete, we finally get to now why he is racing and what the D stands for. From season 1-4 Ryosuke always has been a mentor type of person but never really developed his own character, it was really nice seeing his past and the struggles he lives with giving us a better understanding on who he actually is. Also how they for the first time showed Ryosukes skills and not only talked about them. One of my favorite races in the series
0:15 i think the way both cars are parked here is a pretty nice detail symbolizing the characters and the how they have been dealing with kaori's death. Ryosuke is park facing away from the wall showing us that he has moved on and has opened up. Meanwhile, Rin Hojo is parked facing towards the wall showing us that he has shut himself in and away from everybody and hasn't moved on. Weather it's intentional or not, it's a great and subtle detail show us how both characters dealt with this tragic loss. MAN THIS RACE IS SO GOOD!
If this was Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune, Rin's aura could also be red because of his sidepresses and burns. He's basically a representative of all dirty Wangan players lol Except he couldn't do brake blocking.
Best race of the entire series lmaoooo. For the first time I was having goosebumps all over my body unknowning what's actually going to happen seeing these two fight to death with zero watching it unfold.
