"And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent." -- Jesus Christ (John 17:3 -- praying for His followers before He gives up His life)
When I spoke to Mike Latham a few weeks ago, I was totally amazed at the actual volume of these that have been sold (the numbers are more than you would think). They're incredible value for money for the average user and outstanding quality, these could become the Industry Standard ... !!
How odd. A well executed slipjoint knife with one of the best blade steels on the market? Who in the world could possibly forsee that such a thing would be a hit?! Why, it's almost as if there's a vast untapped market for such a thing!
Really happy with both of mine. My only issue is the finishing on my natural canvas micarta example is below average. It is blotchy with white streaks on the edges. Yours looks nicer than mine. Might need to take a shot at refinishing.
Have you tried filming in manual focus? I love how clean and crisp your camera can get on the close ups but unfortunately there was a lot of out of focus time in this video. Great work though and awesome review as always! Thanks!
I made it to about 6:00 and the second I realized that the edge is thinner I immediately bought one... Sadly I waited this long and the only one that was left was the plain stag, which isnt my first choice but still better than nothing! I'm going to try for a random CF on the next run. Hopefully going to get the sheepsfoot and the roundhead as well on the next runs and desparately hoping they will have fixed the behind the edge measurement and the choil by then.
The stag is _really nice,_ that was actually one of my first choices in the Roundhead. But I'm a traditionalist sort. The Shuffler struck me as being a bit more modern - so white CF was the call. Definitely in for the random CF, and another Roundhead as well!
I don't know for certain, but I'd like to think that's my White Carbon Fiber Shuffler you're holding in this video. It looks absolutely gorgeous! I almost had it in Ram's Horn, just like my Roundhead, but after seeing the White Carbon Fiber on the second run of Roundheads, I knew I had to make the switch!
Offed Pez I did the same. Couldn't resist a rare white CF/silver twill. Though did end up getting a rams horn too. May put the Roundhead rams horn up for sale or gift it.
Ordered a shuffler this week in shredded carbon fiber, hasn't shipped yet. Curious as to what grit stone you started your sharpening with. I have the kme and don't want to start with a too aggressive grit. Thanks Rob.
I love mine, Roundhead and Shuffler. LionSteel obviously paid attention to the critiques; I wish they'd make some adjustments to future runs of the Roundhead, it would be perfect. There's already a second run of the Shuffler, I'm certainly getting another one - and there's not many knives I will get second versions of! Oh, and I'm in on the Dom! Loves me some sheepsfoots!
I actually ordered the shuffler in the natural micarta. As such, I was waiting for you to say how... "unimpressive" that micarta is. I see now that we have different opinions on the aesthetics of these covers.
I’ve noticed mine has bronze shavings inside the pivot? Tried flushing it was oil, but it seems like they just keep coming out when I open and close the knife. Any advice? Send it back?
Those are probably not bronze shavings. They use a copper colored heavy lube in assembly. It has a metallic cast to it. I've seen it in several of them.
You are correct Mr. S.D., they took care of the sharpening choil in the second run. In fact, it's not much thicker behind the edge than the Shuffler. My Shuffler and Roundhead are .014 and .017 respectively! I was thinking when I got the roundhead that people are getting _really_ picky, but apparently Lionsteel is paying attention. Also another good reason not to get on the bleeding edge of new releases! Can hardly wait for the Dom!
The knives are assembled from finished components, i.e. all surfaces of all parts are completely finished when the knife is put together. Kicks must be ground for fitment. Stop pins are precisely located in the frame and meet precisely machined surfaces on the blade. It just works better for the manufacturing process Lionsteel uses. It's certainly not better for the end user.
