Why do you breath all that diesel smoke, smoking is bad for you. Open the doors or add a vent.. use what you can about what I say throw away the rest👉👍
If something needs to be: fixed, adjusted, created, repaired, & _____ ask a Farmer [Welker] BTW, the black smoke keeps the "snow flies" away!!! God Bless!!!!!
I farm with pretty much 1980s and 1990s equipment and a smaller farmer here in Saskatchewan. You learn to be a mechanic pretty quick unless it’s a really big and technical job. Profit margins are always tight for farmers no matter the amount of acres, and a mechanic’s bill is something that I really avoid unless absolutely necessary. I literally know no farmers who don’t work on their own equipment that they own outright.
Howdy! Holy Cow! When BIG BUD started up it was totally AWESOME! I could smell that wonderful exhaust in my living room! 👍 Bob, you sure move snow FAST! It was fun.... Thank You for taking us along for the ride! Until your next video ~~~ Stay safe, healthy, warm and happy!
Would it work to clean out the injectors like you do a shotgun barrel? Make a rod with a slit and use some Hoppes, and a rag. Just a thought. Nice work getting her back together!
I just want to take a minute or two to express my appreciation to the Welker family. I just went through a marathon of watching your videos during the last few months and I must say I'm impressed. Starting from a wave board ride on the Welker's lake to conceiving, construction, fixing things, repairing all kinds of stuff. My highlights are, first to a man with his two sons, seeding the grounds, but also family values, that is commendable. I appreciate that there is no challenge to tough to give it a try. Even if you don't have the knowledge as of yet about fixing something, you are always open to getting in more knowledge, and finally, as Bob says, "Anyways, let's do this." I really like Bob's puns to the point I also call him Pun Bob Farm Pants (Just a kind reference to Sponge Bob square pants. Well, Nick is Hollywood and Scott Leg Arms. Bob also needs a nickname). I also really appreciate the collaborations with other RU-vidrs. All in all, kudos Welkers! An appreciative farming video watcher up north!
Next time put the pin in the leith and weld all the way around it. Pin likely bent from too much heat on one side. Just a tip not telling you what to do.
Okay Scott, you've taken enough of a vacation from the shop. Nick can trip along as a mechanic with dad looking over his shoulder but the pure talent as a mechanic that Scott brings is so valuable to this farm and besides that... we miss seeing his bright and shinning face. Okay, so Scott makes a cameo appearance. Nick, your contribution to the farm in technology and marketing cannot be overlooked. The teamwork on this farm is exactly what it takes to run a successful farm/ranch in this day and age.
I love watching you guys work on your equipment. I used to do a lot of my own car repairs but now days you need a computer,a lift, and numerous other special tools. Good memories!
Love your videos! Being a retired mechanic and engine rebuilder, when torquing nuts and bolts ALWAYS have second hand on the head of torque wrench to keep socket with extension straight, and use as short as possible socket, extensions, etc, it DOES make a difference!
I just love Mr Welker watching over Nick’s shoulder as he turns that pin. Who do you think taught & nurtured Nick & Scott all the skills they have? They’ll pass those skills on to their kids. Love of family farmers!
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. Bob, good work with the blade on the four by four. You really moved some snow. Of course Toby helped. Good work on the big bud. Nick you are doing great with the injectors. You take your time and do what the book says. Outstanding service work Nick and others that helped. Come spring, that should make a difference on performance of the big bud. Nice work. My compliments to you Nick and Bob for your lathe work and such. You all just hop to it and make or adjust what you need to. Amazing skills you all have. I have never used A lathe so have no idea how to even turn it on-ha. You make it look easy. Thanks for an interesting and enjoyable video. Great work on BigBud. Getting ready for spring. Thanks for everything Welkers. May god watch over you. With my blessings. The Iowa Farm Boy.
11:10 Mebbe the moisture got into the old engine head through the vent that you're harvesting. I'd try looking for rust under the one next to it - it's only three bolts.
8:58 "Ten and nineteen - makes twenty eight." Uh - When stacking feeler gauges, ya gotta ADD one "thou" for the air etc between the feelers, not SUBTRACT. lol
NIce job on the engine work. We have some snow tonight but supposed to be up to 12 inches tomorrow night, wish I could send some of it your way. Hope your families stay safe and healthy.
Who let you play with tools and get dirty Nick? I thought you were the official "shop cleaner" and sprayer guy.... Im so confused now..... Did you put all of your Dads tools away? Lol sorry i couldnt resist teasing... Nice work Nick. Hopefully ya get your truck back soon.
I bought some steel sprayer cans on the jungle site, and you can fill them with wd-40, brake clean, and other chemicals that aren't water based, and then you just use a compressor to pressurise them. They are called sure shot, made in the US, and they also have an aluminum version as well. The price of wd-40, and brake and parts cleaner in the cans has gone up significantly in price, so i buy the big containers, pour them in, add air, and it actually lasts longer as well. Maybe you already have some, but if not, it sure is cheaper. G-d bless you all.
I know you need all the moister on the ground you can get and so do we but I am so over snow and cold this year. I would rather it just warm up and rain. Ready for short sleeves and green plants
LOL You looked a bit surprise, Nick when the bud started. Awesome work. You all are so Bless to build or rebuild equipment on your farm. Awesome video. Would loved to seen more snow removing by your dad. Wow lots of moisture on the fields this will be. Praying for all your crops to triple for you all. God Bless you all.
INJECTOR TOOL: Next time, you might want to consider putting a request out on your channel. I'll be someone's got that tool & would lend it to you for long enough to get the job done. Just sayin...Thanks for your terrific witness!
nice job guys.im not a machinist but i think your tool is 180 degrees backward.if you watch the machine channels their bit is running to the chuck and the bit is facing the other way.
If I recall J-1853 is the tool for setting Detroit injectors. Though last time I set one was around '96 so could be wrong. Shouldn't be too much for the tool, and is just as easy as setting the valves. No need to pay someone.
No bashing but we use PARKER O LUBE on all o-rings as motor oil will let injector o-rings roll. We also use Lucas additive, Seems to be a heat sink for gears.
i see that Big Equipment in Montana is making the BIG BUD tractors again maybe time to trade!!!!! its probably only a million dollars for one pocket change for you guys😁
I also think that with the love and care that the Welkers take with these Big Buds... They should be among the first to get the new BB 700 from the new factory.. Even if it's just for a short shake down run to test for bugs before they actually get released to the general public...
You asked the question; why is this engine so rusty? The answer is, when an object isn't used, it will revert to its original form. Yes, that means it will become a pile of rust, when you give it enough time to do this.
Way to Pin it down Nick, if you get my drift Bob!! Dad's got your back Nick, er, I mean shoulder (looking over your)... 😁 Good to see Scott's smile as well. God bless the Welker Farms Family. John here, from the back-roads of Northeastern Tennessee. 🙏
I did the same to the Cummins on my Versatile 976 last winter. It’s fairly simple of a job but I did get a bit anxious doing it! Hope all is well down there on the other side of the 49th! I’m actually not too terribly far away from you just in Saskatchewan a little ways. Just finished moving out wheat and oats and now waiting for warm weather and calves to come, and hopefully in that order!
Hi guys cracking job, was wondering if we get to see any mor videos on leg arms house build I really enjoyed seeing the project, keep up the great content.
