Farming is AMAZING! We make food for MILLIONS! How cool is that!! Come join us as we tell our STORY of FARMING in the 21st Century!
Welker Farms is located in North Central Montana and has been in the family since the homestead of 1912. Third generation farmer, Bob Welker, along with his two sons, Nick and Scott, strive to carry on the family farm legacy. Welker Farms Inc has become a common name throughout the agriculture world by means of popular RU-vid videos from our channel.
Ultimately we owe everything to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I'm very glad y'all are getting rain out there, well your in planting season so id put the heads check everything an replace gaskets and hope it works till y'all are done planting then tear apart a see where its actually coming from
Bob should have helped with the sprayer boom - he could "wing it". I'd just do the gasket to get done with planting. Then tear it all down next winter with a partial rebuild.
I Would dump the antifreeze out of the engine and replace it with diesel fuel. And keep running until done with the season. Decisions on the permanent fix can happen later.
Arrow straight! The seed lines there at the end were super impressive! Those lines were arrow straight my brother! Technology applied in the proper ways is freaking awesome! That's a super sweet setup and here's praying that one day soon the Welker clan can actually make one of these big bad girls their own...
Without knowing the hours on those head gaskets and liners, it is hard to give a good opinion. My main concern would be cavitation on the liners being the next issue after head gaskets.
You can go the newer engine your budget is 50k so think about it depreciation on a new tractor would be more and payment's and all that so go fishing you would loose less money than farming 😊 or go wind turbines
Well, considering the crop failure the past three years that has to have impacted decision making, complete planting and reevaluate after you see what the crop is looking like. Us long timers really feel the hurt for the Montana farmers. Keep your eyes open for a rebuildable core and pick away at it as finances allow. We're praying for you all!😊
Strategic planning for a business. Not taking nostalgia into the equation. Are you going to continue to use a 50 year old machine on the farm? If you aren’t going to replace it, you need to do the rebuild. Next question, remember business strategic planning, not nostalgia. Are you going to risk your business, your family’s livelihood, homes, etc. on 50 year old equipment that will continue to get older and older, break down more and more frequently, increasingly harder to get parts, lost time and money on repairs that you could be using to make improvements to the farm? Don’t take me wrong, I am not against the Buds. Anyone that watches, over the years they break down more and more and it appears parts are harder to get. For business strategic planning, should you consider a path to modernization? I’m not saying get rid of the Buds, I’m saying evaluate gambling on 50 to 60 to 70 (as you farm) years old equipment. I’m not telling you to do anything, you asked for opinions, mine is to consider the strategic planning for your family farm for your generation and your children’s generation. No one can go buy 10 million dollars worth of equipment at once and you all have had a few rough years in a row. That’s why you strategically plan for today, tomorrow, ten years from now, 20, 30, etc. These are business decisions, not nostalgia. Keep the Buds, make them show pieces. By the time your kids take over, the Buds will be what, 75 years old? This is business and it is YOUR business. You asked for opinions, my advice is strategic planning for your business. Then you all make the decisions that only you all can. Not me for sure. No one else on the internet either. Keep up the good work.
I would open it up and investigate further. Maybe straight edge the block amd heads to see if I wanted to deck it. Look at the cylinder walls for scaring. How far I would go would depend on that and how many hours since full rebuild. If the cylinder walls are trash I would sleeve it and do bearings and full rebuild.
Love yalls content and your dedication to your craft and to the lord! Hoping for a good harvest this year for the Welkers! And hoping that maybeeee us Farming Simulator players can get an updated equipment tour video so we can play your farm map with as much of the right stuff as possible lol happy farming!
