We'll be diving into the art of splashing technique in ink wash painting, focusing on the theme of Tranquil Valley Village. The winding paths weave through the mountains, weaving past dense pine and cedar forests. This painting not only showcases natural landscapes but also integrates the philosophical ambiance of ink wash painting, presenting a spiritual and transcendent realm.
In this artwork, we utilize traditional mineral pigments from China. These pigments are ground from stones into powder and then mixed with glue. Because of their mineral composition, the colors remain vibrant and enduring over centuries. In the coloring process, we start by using ochre and indigo as the base colors for the mountain roots and forests. Following this, we apply a base layer of clear water, followed by a layer of indigo. While the surface is still damp, we splash on cyan and greenstone to blend the colors seamlessly. Lastly, we add touches of azure to enhance the depth and mystery of the painting.
