I just want to thank you for doing this video. I have this thermostat. But I am old lady. And I always forget how to work it. I use it to hatch chicken eggs. This is the third time, I have come to watch your video, to set this thing. It’s like once a year, I come visit you.lol. Just know how much you have really helped me out. I am truly grateful. You have the exact model as me. And your instructions are clear. And you goat the perfect speed. Some act like it’s a race. And you can’t keep up with them. Others go so slow, that I can take a nap in between steps! So thank you for your efforts. I am truly grateful it is here to help me! God bless
to me the instructions were less than clear and after watching many videos on hoh to set this is the only channel to use common sense and actually make it simple and correct thank you sooo much for the no nonsense tutorial
This is great! Well done. I’ve prob used this video 3-4 times now. Every time I get a new controller I come find this video to walk me thru it. This is much easier to follow than the instructions that come with it. Thank you
THANK YOU!!! I just got this thermostat and didn't understand what some of the options were, or how to cycle through to the second temperature. Your video was the perfect help!
This model has two ports but both are the same? some models one port is for heating and one is for cooling. But this one have no marking for heating and cooling.
Well they sure don't build things like they use to, we didn't need a controller 20 years ago stuff just worked. We are kinda forced to get with the times these days.
I know this is an old video but I'll comment anyway, I have been researching these ink bird control units and there's two things that I just can't grasp. #1 what if the temperature probe comes out of the tank, then the ink bird will kick on because the temperature probe will be sensing room temperature making the heater run constantly, thus cooking the fish which is what the ink bird is supposed to prevent. #2 what happens during a water change? Wouldn't the ink bird kick the heater on when the water level drops in the aquarium? the only thing I can think of is you would have to have the probe low enough in the tank so that it's not out of the water.
Sorry for the late reply. So I have never had a probe come out of the tank and I run several of these. But if it did fall out it would probably run at full power and wipe out your tank. To answer your second question I always unplug my heaters 10 minutes before a water change as a habit. You really don't want your heater to turn on during a wc it can crack in two and explode in the tank ( very scary) All in all its not a fool proof method but I have had well over 10 heaters fail in the past several years. I have 3 controllers and non have failed me nor have I lost anymore fish due to a failed heater. I have lost tanks in the past so to me its worth it.
I had the 308 metal sensors and the sensor stopped working after a few months. Now I have the 306 plastic sensor. But there doesn't seem to be an alarm function....
Oh right on man, yeah I know quite a few fish keepers who use these units. I am going to get me a few more for my other tanks. Its a great safety feature to have for sure .
Hi Ron you can use both outlets as when they turn on they both turn on Temps are more less fish specific though so i suggest to look up your species requirements
I have 3 of these. Controller quality seems to be hit or miss. I have 2 of the 306T and one of them works sporadically. It sometimes allows the temperature to rise as much as 3 degrees F over the set point, with a difference set at 1 degree Farenheit. So I have it set for 75 and it allows the temperature to spike to 79.3 when the highest it should go before shutting itself off is 76 degrees. Extremely frustrated as it is only 2 months old.
Shit dude you are the first person to say they have had an issue with one of their products or at least something more than a sensor. I would reach out to the company man. I have several ink bird products and I have not had any issues at all. Here is there email address.. cs@ink-bird.com
@@AQUANUT I did reach out and they replaced. They have had issues with their metals sensors. I was not the only one. They have switched to plastic (could be plastic coated sensors). Not sure if this was the issue (doubtful), but giving it another try.
No you plug your heater into this controller and let it control the heat. Heaters fail all the time, I have went through 2 heaters on this tank in the last few years. If i wasn't using the controller I could have possibly cooked my fish..
Not sure if you will get this comment. I purchased this unit. It says duel heating so I only get one of the working lights that come on and one heater. How do you get both heaters to function ? Thanks in advance
Sorry, I just saw this now.. I tested it out and yeah I noticed the same thing but I am sure I saw that somewhere in the book. Let me play around with this a bit this evening and I will get back to you.
Thank you. I have tried to contact the company also. They said yeah they should both work then asked me what kind of heaters I have I told her eheim jaeger then gave me specs from the book. Lol. I like clean installs. Lol
Yeah so both plugs work on mine. so i am a bit confused. I have a few of these inkbird controllers and they are all a little different so i may have got them confused with one i could program both plugs. i am pretty sure you may have a defective unit or something as i was unable to recreate only one plug working.
@@AQUANUT i really appreciate the time for you to look into this for me...yeah manufacture contacted me back i followed the test i am leaning towards a defective unit as well...they told me if the temp is below what is set the heaters should work in together, however this is not the case...well hopefully they get me out a new one soon....thank you again
Hey Ray right on buddy ..I have been good my friend, been pretty busy over here but all is well. I am going to have to go check out whats new in the your cave
Sorry man you cant control 2 heat mats with one of these. you would need one of the dual temp units or 2 of the standard temp controllers. This specific one is marketed for aquariums and comes with a bulky plastic probe. The one you are looking for come with a slim steel probes that would fit under your mat better.
@@AQUANUT thanks for the reply. I have this product and it does have a very thin probe? Oh that's disappointing that is can't control 2 heatmats. But what is the second plug socket for in that case?
wtaf iv just got one itc 306t and its different fkn nearly all ready thrown it in the bin you have 2 work lights i have one it cant connect its blinking fk this crap
