If you want to learn more about how Inkscape works, I have a 50+ part video series where I explain all of the tools and features in Inkscape and demonstrate how they work. Here's the link if interested: logosbynick.com/inkscape/
thanks this is actually oddly similar to what I had in mind for my own business, at least to start off with and I can always change it. Thank you for this
"you know what? i know some ppl are broke. i knew i'm fully capable of what that guy made in illustrator. so i'm gonna go the extra mile and make something just as good on inkscape- all free of charge, for random people on youtube". thank you, Nick.
This is probably my fourth or fifth logo I watch from Nick, awesome, quick and to the point! Thanks Nick for making the complex artwork simple to understand...
I have downloaded Inkscape on Saturday. Finished all tutorials of TJ on Sunday. And now doing practical lesson on this one on 4th day. I must say, cracking Inkscape is made easy by you NIck. Thanks for the wonderful creativity dose.
I've watched two of your videos and learned more about inkscape than I have from watching about 2 dozen videos in the past couple weeks. Thanks so much for the help, as I've always been a paintshop/Photoshop guy!
well, I have to say , The best TEACHER is someone who makes you fall in love with the subject even if its damn boring, and yes u made me fall in love with inkscape.
Incredible just how you could come up with those amazing logo ideas by just simply manipulating different shapes and colours...absolutely inspiring and stunning
great tutorial there Nick, really showing us what can be achieved with inkscape. There's not many inkscape tuts on youtube that are as well explained as yours and i look forwards to each new one. thanks for your time and commitment.
Oddly enough I had something similar in mind for a logo I'm working on for my own business. I am gonna change the colors and the shape a bit and add some text but this was a huge help since I need to save as much money as possible for what I need to do and once I get more established I can change it if need be.
I am a big fan of your videos. When I first opened this application, I couldn't understand a single thing but your videos helped me learn this awesome open source software and now, I use this software daily. Thanks a lot. I like the way you show the keys you are pressing and the mouse clicks. I tried using carnac but it wasn't that good. It would be really helpful if you could tell which app you use for that. Hope you don't take it wrong.
Sweet! I saw that same Illustrator video. I love taking Adobe videos and making the same things as them using Inkscape and Gimp. This video was great. Subscribed!
Very creative form. I also manged to make something with myself in 2013, also on RU-vid, video tutorial for Illustrator. Just type 3D logo! I think now that my video has just over 700,000 views. I am surprised because some people are now seeing for the first time. Luckily not violated the copyrights of authors! Please!
+Clever Mark Yes I saw it. I wanted to show people how to create the design in Inkscape, although you executed the design much better than I did. Great work!
I'm finding these videos extremely useful for finding nice techniques for making nice drop shadows and how to achieve certain geometries. Can you suggest any books or magazines which are useful for giving ideas for what to incorporate into designs? Great videos!
Thank you very much.... I am interested in learning graphics and your channel is helping me to pursue my learning with free open source software. thank you so much.
Awesome job Nick! No need to apologize for "Sloppy work". It doesn't even look bad to me and I understand that if you were doing this on your own time as it were, you would correct the little stuff. Thanks for not obsessing -- for the video's sake. :) Thanks again.
near the 14:38 mark, when you were talking about the space left over near the grey and blue... If you zoom in and click (possibly double click) you can adjust the edge of the shape i.e. pull a corner to the edge of the sphere without adjusting the entire shape itself. Hope thats clear :) (ver. 0.92.3)
This is great video, but in my opinion @9:44 was the best this shape will ever be, you could have ended there. The reason is, @9:44 the blue spherical ball was looking like it is in the center of the outer shell. Unlike the final image, which it looks behind the shell. Thanks for your video, it is awesome, "just like that" XD
+BEaSTFXbeatbox Thank you. Yes it's customize. I wrote an article outlining how to do the same if you're interested: blog.logosbynick.com/design/how-to-make-inkscape-go-dark/
Creativity kneels Between your hands you said it's going to be hard but you made it simple, funny and brilliant. how good you are playing with shapes i had to pause the video and laugh about how blind and stupid am not to see things this way Salute you am not creative But i do a lot of copy past with to some changes hope you don't mind stealing your ideas :D
+Noureddine Rached Thanks. I couldn't see these things either when I first started. Now, after years of doing this, it's almost like I have a new sense for it. In time you'll be able to look at any vector graphic and see exactly how to re-draw it yourself.
Very, very nice. ...and one day I'd like to see a not perfectly round circle. 😉 I think a circle is always perfectly round, otherwise it is an ellipse.
I cant find the snap to custom nodes Burton on my interface and cant find custom in View? How do I do That? I Am using the latent version of inkscape. Thanks for an awesome tutorial.
