Still working on my turns, and making them feel and look more natural. Posting has been very inconsistent because I have been making a lot of changes in general to the channel and my outside life, but I will be back to regular posting very soon!

lol i also do those off-ice brackets 24/7 when im bored. I actually found that practicing all my turns off-ice made it a lot easier for me to remember which ones were which and how to do them too 👌🏻

I know they teach skills differently in the US, but for me it seems your 1S is basically a waltz jump, you jump when you are forward. Don't know if it's intentional because it's a working progress, just be aware of it before it becomes muscle memory. On the other hand, the jumps that you labelled as 2S, are the best 1A attempts I've seen from you. You cross your legs nicely, I don't see that when you are going for 1A (I haven't seen all your footage, I might have missed some nice 1As). The one at 1:58 is very very good if you label it as 1A. Just pull your arms in and keep your legs crossed longer, so that the free leg doesn't touch down when you land. Another thing: bend your ankle and keep your body up when landing. Your torso is waaay to forward, I fear for you every time that you will end up on your face. 😱 Surely it would be easier in figure skates, because those have high heels and you don't actually need to bend your ankle too much to reach the nice upright upper body position. But it is totally possible in your skates as well, you just need to bend more at the ankle. Hope it didn't come through as unsolicited advise, I guessed you share your practice with the world to get some feedback. 😘

@@buskergirl I love this kind of feedback. You guys are the closest thing I have to a personal coach 😅 I learn everything from RU-vid and have no friends who specifically do figure skating. I’ll focus specifically on the landing posture next time and bending my ankle! I appreciate the advice and never hold back, basically everything you see me doing is a huge work in progress

It’s definitely worth going to a fitter for the first time ordering a boot. My quad boots are not nearly as expensive as your skill level but still having a 250 dollar quad skate I can’t wear because it’s slightly too small in the toe box is frustrating. Especially because it felt fine at first so I wore them but when I started doing things on my toe stops like running and jumping I’d get crazy cramps in my toes from my big toe hitting the front of the boot. I think with figure boots your toes are supposed to touch the toe box but not bend unnaturally and that’s a really fine line to risk 1k on without a professionals advice. For me to get fitted I’d have to drive two hours into Phoenix so I get wanting to go online for it but in person you can make a list of which sizes of each model and brand you tried on that you liked that you can order later on

@@bebepastiche9105 I totally agree, but I think I’ll have to drive more like 4-5 hours 😭 either that or I wait two months until I move to Wisconsin and I live about two hours from an ice skating shop. What kind of jumps are you practicing on your quads?

@@SolidSkatesI just broke the rivets holding the plate onto my street skates by jumping a 2 stair 😤 I’ve been working on cartwheels, waltz jumps, airing out on transition, half lutz/flip/flutz I’m not paying too much attention to the edge I use so that’s why I lump them together. I’d say I’m still in those beginner jumps just starting to try 360s on flat ground and jumping off 3 foot ledges. My ultimate jumping goals are a barani, flying camel, maybe a double lutz one day

@@bebepastiche9105 wow I’ve never heard of anyone breaking the rivets 😂 it’s usually the wheel core, or the ankle cuff or something that breaks first

Very nice dude. You've got a bunch of them on command.

@@SaccoBelmonte thank you, it takes so many repetitions for them to feel/look comfortable, I still need to get all the counters and then rockers into the rotation too

@@SolidSkates Yeah, with so many variations on 3 turns alone there's always something to work on. Which is what makes it cool. :) You'll never get bored.

You should give aggressive inline skating a try

@@thecalamariman7805 I plan on it! I’ll have a pair in about 2 weeks or so to start practicing on
@SaccoBelmonte
@SaccoBelmonte Месяц назад
Right. Almost nobody does the Salchow with one-foot take off. Two footed makes them look really bad (ugly pronation). And yeah, checking with your arms is what gives you rotation control.
@SolidSkates
@SolidSkates Месяц назад
@@SaccoBelmonte I’m totally not checking with my arms correctly, I just started doing an off skate drill to help with it. I’ve done zero off skate practice for salchows because it’s kind of weird since it relies so much on the momentum for take off and rotation
@SaccoBelmonte
@SaccoBelmonte Месяц назад
@@SolidSkates Glad to see you're aware of checking :) I don't believe in off skate/ice practice. Is not the same thing because without momentum you end relying in over rotation rather than using that "pole" leg+momentum to convert momentum into rotation energy.
@SolidSkates
@SolidSkates Месяц назад
@@SaccoBelmonte 😪 I agree that off ice training is not as useful as they make it seem, but personally I can only spend so much time on my skates before y feet or joints start to hurt, or if it’s raining then I’ll definitely be doing some off ice training to at least get some of the motion down. I think out of all jumps doing the axel off ice is still useful and transfers decently well to actual skates

how do you jump so easily on the skates? You did amazing btw
@SolidSkates
@SolidSkates Месяц назад
@@rubytroublemaker I do a lot of strength training and plyometrics for jumping, and it makes it a lot easier to jump because I only have to focus on the technique and not putting too much effort into getting height, but thank you! How’s your leg??
