Anyone can conquer a hill on inlines. You just have to slowly get your body used to traveling at faster speeds. Start with 1/4 of the hill then 1/2 and the 3/4. Before you know it you will be bombing down the entire hill.

If there is grass/dirt on the side of a downhill path, I like to use just one foot to brake on it keeping the other on the pavement. Variable pressure or angle of foot off the path allows better regulation of braking. Of course, if too fast/steep, going completely off the path may be necessary.

I'm in Southern Italy, Naples: no places to skate.. Even if you're looking for pure city skating on the asphalt.. Because almost every street is made by a lavic stone (from the Mount Vesuvius). Learning how to skate had been very hard for me. The only thing I can say: I have to be very thankful for all the job done and all the time spent on these videos by Shop Task and other RU-vidrs such as Bill Stoppard. The worst part of skating are surely the injuries, especially the most serious ones.. That happen even if you are well padded wearing full protection. (actually, I got one of those and I can't skate until next summer because healing time will be a nightmare, and it's gaving me tons of problems with working, too)

9:46 Definitely the best hill in the video. It's great advice to always work your way up to the top to see how well you can handle the corners and other features. A flat frame, as opposed to a rockered frame will give you that added stability and grip though the corners as well. 5:33 This is pretty decent hill too, but not quite as interesting. I'd definitely prefer to take the road and tuck the hill, rather than have to potentially deal with pedestrians at the bottom of the path. However, it is good to practice controlling speed on narrow paths, and probably a little more fun in some ways, as it is more difficult to carve and slide.

Hi! I have a question. What do you think about to use a rockered set up to skate on the street? I use to use full rocked set up by turning the first and last screw of my 4-wheels inline skates. Now I am using the first wheel rockered to have more stability. I am just trying to figure out what is more convenient. Thanks in advance.

@FlowSkate

The dirt and grass will have the most impact on the bearings. I only use Twincam Storm bearing because the perform well in dirty, wet conditions without much maintenance shop-task.com/collections/bearings/products/seba-twincam-storm-rustproof-bearings.

best vid ive seen on skates downhill !! the problem though, i am a biginner and been thinking alot of steep hills going down, in city for example, you have like 70 cm space for bikes ( Europe), its impossible to break slowly on skates and u cant make hockeystopps if you have bikes behind you,,, heel brake is to clumsy :( is there any invention like a car-handbrake , but for skates?. what about a lace and a disc brake ?
@jcardin2
@jcardin2 4 года назад
dstaop I've come up with a foot drag brake that is an extension of the regular T or L drag technique. It works best with 125mm wheels due to the need for a greater lean angle or frame height. See my latest vids for a prototype demo.
