I've been working with the Ga Dept. of Corrections for 23 years and know firsthand that the inmates currently run the prisons due to critical staff shortages. When I first started it wasn't unusual to have 40-50 officers per shift, now you may have three officers on night shift trying to run a prison with over a thousand inmates, which is impossible. When the state replaced our pension plan with a 401k they only made it easier for someone to walk out and take it with them, so there's no real incentive to stay if they get frustrated with the job. The state has been raising the pay but it's not enough and having little impact. In today's society, they are gonna have to raise the pay substantially and bring back a state pension plan. If they don't, the problem will only get worse and the administration staff will end up working the floor themselves. The state got cheap and now it's come back to bite them in the ass!
It’s the same in the UK the pay for prison staff hasn’t improved over the years so the experienced staff have all left. So you got college kids trying to staff prisons which doesn’t work.
The state isn't "cheap"; It's BROKE!!! This is simply 100+ years of horrible $ policy (nationwide), catching up to us. They established the Fed reserve private bank in 1913, and have been borrowing wasted $ ever since...Now, we cant even afford the interest on that debt, but still have the horrible pork policy that created all the debt to begin with. States still get federal kickbacks for drug offenses, but have nowhere to deal with them. Especially in GA; Overfumded Police still arrest as many as they can for any little thing they can, and there is no $ left to even prosecute many; Much less jail them...
Seems like it would be a pretty big security risk for the officers to be so undermanned. I can only assume that the prisoners tend to not mess with the officers for the most part?
My brother in Georgia. He says people get stabbed for being the mix or no reason. Young guys are bored always wanna fight and bully people. The old guys are more chill but you have to be careful with them because sneaky too
I was an officer at a Georgia max facility for two years. Only one inmate ever had a problem with me and we fixed it between us. I left because my lu tried to throw me under the bus for his criminal activities. That prison was ran by criminals.
Yeah i can think of one. They need to really STOP sending non violent prisoners with the violent ones and start seperating and housing by the serverity of thier crimes. Thats what they need to do. Stop mixing everyone together it just doesnt work. Puts the staff at risk also.
Agree, I think Missouri trying to do some of that. Like housing different type of crimes apart from others. They said it's for EVERYONE's protection including the guards.
These stories are so sad. You can't even go to prison and just mind your business either. You are forced to socialize. If you haven't been insise yourself, you will never understand.
The punishment is losing your freedom, making everyone into a violent animal to survive is not good for society, look at how many ex-cons reoffend in places that treat prisoners well compared to the US. @@crazychase98
If I were getting released I'd act like I wasn't. All it takes is one lifer or similar to hear you getting out soon and just out of jealously take you out.
You want to keep it to yourself except for the people you know you are tight with. You talk about a hard goodbye. Knowing you leaving a brother there that will never get out sticks with you . I've been out since 2017 and it still crosses my mind. Sad as hell.
The big mouth CO’s, make sure certain inmates know, I’d imagine many are getting paid by some inmates to look the other way. I know the prison my son is in, it’s the CO’s bringing the drugs etc. in. It is sad when they aren’t keeping people safe, I don’t care what they’re in for.
My best friend was in for 3 years and was 15 days from release. Had his commissary suspended before release with a debt. Called me out of the blue needing $150. You’re damn right I sent that. Not trying to get my friend in a wreck.
I appreciate how real you and your content are. I go back to your videos from years ago, and there is no difference: You're not leaning into a persona for the followers, and you're not swinging the other direction by being a more polished "creator" for the algorithm. Wishing you, your family, and your audience freedom and grace in 2024, wherever it can be found.
@@blake_lively_matters6553 you have the ability for freedom in all sorts of situations. Our minds are a beautiful and powerful tool. Free the mind... free your soul!!!! Plus Jesus came to give us true freedom and grace . Wishing you well on your journey .
I been watching your content for years and this new form of activism you're doing is a welcome surprise. You can make a change, don't give up. People don't care about you once you break the law but that's no excuse to have your life put on unnecessary jeopardy by sorry ass facilities. They're still humans with families. These families deserve closure, there has to be a change made!!!
Excellent comment. You don't have to convince the penal system. They see the system is broke for sure. But there is huge variation on what, if anything, different states are doing to fix the problem. Like homelessness, the unnecessary hellish "side conditions" of prison have been a national disgrace in the US with our system being the laughing stock of Europe, but all of the politicians with the power to actually do something, instead do whatever they can to stay in office and to make money from the system. There aren't enough people with real power, who actually are motivated to fix it. But if they did, it would definitely benefit all of us who are out in free society because 98% of those incarcerated eventually are released back among us. And the current conditions are so bad that many come out with worse attitudes than when they entered. Some are the same or perhaps even better. But MANY are worse and since our system focuses on pure punishment and very little rehabilitation, when the guys get out, they are not equipped to handle the outside world and might re-offend just making money to survive with the only way they know how.
Yeah, I never tell anyone in my family or girlfriend if I have any issues going on in there. I always gotta just act like it’s a cake walk in there. I was the one who already made them as sad as they are by my own bad decisions, so I’d never want them to be even more worried. Always gotta keep them strong and feeling like it’s not as bad of a situation as it really is for their own mental state.
Same. I just tell them in doing good. I never called them daily because they would ask how was your day...I'd tell them just like all the other days the same thing.
@@erickiyoshiphillips2323 I was different as inmates will at times observe your family time to learn your weakness. Thus, I was stoic when I interacted with family. Hell! I even had a rival gang member bang on me while he was walking towards his family (brother) who also banged on me. What did my mom (RIP) do? Act dramatic. As a result, I ended my visitation right then and there to protect her stupid ass because she didn't understand California Prison Politics.
Did a shade under 8 years and you're 100% correct, never mix the 2 worlds as it only makes things worse all around. I'm a better person because of my mistakes in life and I'm trying to give back into my community by working in drug rehabilitation and volunteering at our Work Release program to help guys with resources and rides
Aye man im going through crazy withdrawals rn n yo Videos help me pass the time n get through the shit. Appreciate everything you do bro heres to a new year 💪🏻

4 SIMPLE TIPS TO STAY OUT OF JAIL/PRISON: 1. Treat people the way you wanted to be treated. 2. Act civilized in public. 3. Don't touch, steal or damage anything that doesn't belong to you. 4. Watch who you surround yourself with & don't be a fellower from someone else's wrongdoing.
I was in the chain gang in Georgia in hall county. We would cut grass everyday and clean up trash off the side of the road etc. but it was violent for sure it definitely had its perks being at that work camp bc you got time knocked off your sentence and people were less prone to violence for fear of being kicked out and taken back to the penitentiary . But it’s always interesting hearing your stories about other states , was obliged to click once I seen Georgia though ! Happy new years ! 🎉
I was locked up in Helen, GA before they transferred me to Cleveland, GA. Several inmates told me that Hall county is the worst to get locked up in. Lots of gangs, violence and crooked CO's.
Thanks for posting all these videos for us, it’s much appreciated. I hope u and ur family have a great year coming up. Love sent from Australia❤️❤️🇦🇺🇦🇺
If your in the county waiting to ride out or have any suspicion your going upstate, its time to start working out. Get yourself a workout partner do pushups with your boy laying back to back, do squats by picking your workout partner in a firemans carry. Get a water bag, resistance traing. Being in shape is a deterrent not all the time but people will think twice. Dont get in drug debts, gambling debts, store debts any debts. If you don't have it go without its not worth it
Shit yes, I found out, they were putting me on the bus,got busy ended up with 21 3/4 in gun's! Lol , bunch of them just sat around and played cards! Not the way to go!
I have a cousin who did 15 years at Red Onion and all he would talk about was prison shit😂 we couldn’t get a word in. We just started avoiding the phone when his mother would pass it around at Thanksgivings. No one in prison can educate me about shit because I ain’t never gonna put myself in a position to go to prison. All the money made from dope sold or people/stores they robbed doesn’t add up to someone that went to college and got a job, or starting an honest business and sticking to the plan for 15 years. Not everyone can be Big Meech and says it was work it. Stay on the narrow path, not in the streets
the funny thing is some of these repeat wont take a minimum wage job on the outside but consider themselves players if they hustle a guy out of a pack of smokes in prison
" I ain’t never gonna put myself in a position to go to prison. " It only takes a road rage incident or an argument with a cashier that goes out of hand to end up there.
Hey bro. My man is in county. We been following you for a long time. He got hurt cause somebody had beef with his card partner and they attacked him too just cause he was sitting next to dude. My man was smart and didn't fight back so he wouldn't get sent to the hole and lose his privileges. He had to go to the hospital and everything and I didn't find out until after the fact cause he didn't want to make me worry. It's hard on me because I'm always worried something is happening and he's not telling me. I hate it.
Not fighting back is not smart. It doesn't matter what the situation is. You don't fight back. You get a rap as a pussy , even if you get your ass beat , you still get more respect
Thank you for sharing these stories sir. I'm a former Corrections Officer of of 13 years for a Midwest state. These inmates, gentlemen, didn't deserve to die. It actually breaks my heart. I was fortunate to work where I did. However, I've researched many Prisons in numerous states. Many Southern penitentiaries, especially Georgia and others need to be investigated seriously. They need a 3rd party to do mandatory quarterly visits to make sure of inmates' safety and living conditions. There is an Association called the ACA. I believe it stands for American Corrections Association. They come in quarterly, for 2-3 days to check on policies and procedures of these facilities. They go over paperwork, safety records and procedures of these facilities. They also visit all living units to grade them, and make sure they are safe, the cleanliness, and how well they are maintained. Sad to say, this is an accreditation Association. That means that stares can refuse to be apart of this 3rd party to come in. The reason why our state allows and complies with ACA is our state is given state money for good reviews and that money goes back into the prison system to continue to maintain our facilities. The states that refuse to allow a 3rd party to enter their facilities is because they have something to hide. I've witnessed men make positive changes in their lives. I even worked segregation for a year, and I always made sure inmates had their needs met and even made sure they got books to read. I even took time to visit with them if they wanted to talk. They are human beings. To be honest, I rarely ever had issues with any of them. I'm so glad to hear and see that you are leading a positive life. I believe in that so much! God bless u sir. 🙏
There is a recent case where I think a place might be getting shut down or at least heavily punished because they had something like 6 or 7 deaths in a year and the investigation showed that they weren't doing walk-bys, or even handing out meds and they were depriving the inmates of time out of their cells and just keeping em racked. They also were refusing to call for medical care even when people were deadly ill. The COs would simply IGNORE their call buttons and let em scream in pain until they died. The investigation also revealed that the guards were just forging the notes that they had done all their responsibilities and completed their inspections but they had skipped almost all of them.
My cousin, Jim, has been incarcerated for more than 40 years. I don't know where he is or even if he is still living. He came from a dysfunctional family. My aunt was domineering but my uncle had no backbone. Jim rebelled by mixing with the wrong friends -- a motorcycle gang. Jim was great at mechanics but dropped out of school. First charge was for receiving stolen property but who knows what his rap sheet is now. Jim's niece tracked him down about 20 years ago but feared to make contact.
Hey bro, your videos always help me through a lot of shit and I always look forwards to your stories. I seen you get the blues over Christmas, bro, I don't got no one but my moms wondering if I miss a video. Drugs, Death, Prison, or just missing is where all my loved ones went. Just stay strong, your channel always reminds me that, so I hope this reminds you! Stay safe bro. Happy new years! and Thanks for being a positive voice for us felons and convicts out here in a positive way!
Funny how prisoners have the "It's us against them" attitude with each other. You'd think they'd feel that way only about the guards since it's the guards who are keeping them in the prisons.
Wow i just found you tonight and I'm glad i did well i guess im glad. My son is in prison and in November i didn't hear from him in over a week then he called to tell me he had been moved to a different prison. I ask him why and he said he got in a really bad fight that outta nowhere some guy came at him and my son had to beat him off of his self, he told me he got put in the hole for a week over it and he almost took a charge for it but they played the video and seen where my son was only defending him self so thank God he didn't take a charge. He is supposed to get out on the 9th of January and he called me to tell me that they were rolling him up at 3 in the morning and they were taking him to a prison in our county he said he would call me when he got there, well that's been 3 days ago and i haven't heard a word from him so now I've started to worry. My question for you is do i have anything to worry about or is this normal ?? Also is there any advice you could give me about talking to him and how can i keep him from going back ?? You are right i know it was hell for him but as a Mother the last 16 months has almost killed me.. i just don't understand he was always a good kid and son until he got with the wrong kind of people and he has messed up his whole life he even had a career drilling and blasting, my husband got him started in it when he was in the 7th grade it gave him a summer job and it was in the late 90s he brought home almost 2,000 a check and by the time he was 18 he made great money had a brand new truck and life was good for him, until my husband died of cancer and that's when my son started going down hill 😢 he isn't a baby anymore he's 40 years old but I'll worry about him until the day i die he's my only son if that even matters.. im sorry for the long text im just a worried Mom . Thank You
Salute bro I aint been on here in a while. But I was one of the dudes who hit you up for the gatlinburg meetup back in the day lol. Hope you and the fam doing good
I never been locked up because I was smart enough to listen to people like you who have been through it. I use to sell here and there when I was younger and it definitely would’ve gotten me time, but I got wiser and put all that bullshit away and got a real job. Prison terrifies me because no matter how good of a person I am here on the outside. On the inside I know theirs some very evil people in there and I just could never bring myself to ever commit horrific acts of violence. Honestly I would probably take my own life because being trapped in an area I can never leave I know would take its toll on me mentally. So thanks for always reminding me to stay free and keep out of trouble. It really helps not to take the little things for granted. Edit: To all of the religious people trying to slander me. Remember you people started this. Not me. I never brought up religion and yet you came at me with disrespect. i can't imagine a more malevolently arrogant presumption than that of religious people who think, not only that their beliefs are more important than someone else’s, but that they have the right to tell them they are. It really is true “there’s no hate like Christian love”.
@@alexanderredhorse1297 Well, I have been locked up and I'm far from being stupid! Some of the smartest and coolest people I've ever met were in prison so you should really stfu with that shit cause you don't know what you're talking about!! 🙄🤦🏼♂️💯

Your channel has got me thru some shit so it's a great deal you got goin so keep it up brotha. Happy new year
Im sure no prison is perfect, but there are legit problems happening in the GA prison system. I have heard of multiple deaths in GA prisons in the past few months.
I agree with you saying if they can't house them then don't. Our prison system is barbaric, yes there are people who deserve to be there, absolutely. But those ain't the ones dieing!
Someone in Clayton county jail here in GA, 25 yrs old, had just 3 weeks left, in for violating misdemeanor probation, ended up getting killed by a 41 yr old career criminal, with serious mental health issues. As soon as they moved the 41 yr old to his cell, the young man was murdered. Here in GA if you go to jail now period, anything can happen.
Happy new year death!!! Love ur vids bro. Hate to hear about this sad story. I’ve been locked up before 2 and luckily survived, my name is Ryan as well. Hits home. STAY OUT OF TROUBLE!! Love y’all!!
Administrative violation of probation gets folks locked up when they shouldn't be....it is total B.S. and Ga is one of the worst systems where misdemeanors are treated like capital felony.
Yes they could hire more staff, but having a prison you could possibly die in is all I need to hear to keep my life going straight , if was safe and cuddly, no one would care about going there for years
What your talking about specifically @ 4:05 - I've never heard a dude who's been to prison say that, and say it so well. You seem like a cool, intelligent person. Props dude, and Thank You!
Done time in Louisiana and Georgia. Georgia is the worst time ive ever done. Georgia's diagnostic process is one of the main issues. They put you anywhere there's bed space, so you might hit a level 5 with a 1 year sentence. I had 4 months left on a one year sentence, and they sent me to prison. The camp was full of lifers, and stucc me in a unit with like 70% of inmates with life sentences. You know what kind of danger a guy with no prison experience could be in? Fortunately, I know the ropes, and am a stand up guy, so i didn't have any issues, but still. Then, there's no staff, literally. Like 15 rotating guards worked at this joint, maybe. It's crazy. It's gangland, so there's politics, of course. I did 13 years in Louisiana, but you had to hold your own, and the only politics are respect. Simple as that. Georgia...no respect. I've seen guys that couldn't make it in a Louisiana joint, due to the lacc of respect, and there's not 40 gang members behind you. So many killings in Georgia, is because there's always a main guy pulling the strings, and if you don't carry out an order, you'd be a victim.
Yes that what people fail to realize about Georgia u don't have to be a standup individual you just gotta be beneficial to the gangs or be with the rite gang and don't get on there badside
my pops been down since 02 in cali, i’ve grown up with him in the system. would you be open to interviewing people that grew up like this and hear first hand from them
Worse thing you could do if your getting drama in prison is to tell your loved ones, there's nothing they can do (unless they are connected) except worry and maybe do something that just makes things worse.
Scapegoat - a person who is blamed for the wrongdoings, mistakes, or faults of others, especially for reasons of expediency. I haven't heard of an escapegoat, but I think it has something to do with the zoo, a pig, some missing grass, and a farmer. I could be wrong. We dig your channel.
These stories should be motivation for people to want to avoid that life. I did 3 years 20 years ago and never looked back once released. 🙏 It's now been 19 years since my release from state prison. I've also made it my mission to keep my son, and not grandson, from living that lifestyle.
Having been locked up in there and changed my life around, i can tell you that you're right💯 owed someone money, put a kite out on someone and or also what people dont know is the prison will send you to the same camp you snitch on your co-defendant @... Its a dirty game . Thank god i was young and turned my life around .
Happy New Year! I was wondering if you ever do updates? Like- did that family down south ever get their son's heart back? I hope you and yours are well and have a great year!

I unfortunately live in GA. To anyone reading this is thinking of moving to GA I warm you, the state is by far the worst I’ve ever lived in for many, many reasons
Thank you from a fellow felon, I live in East TN but did most of my time in west TN, as a younger white guy out west, it was unreal, my first classification dorm was linked with the gang unit. I’m doing a 6yr bid and bunking with lifers. Thank God I made it back to middle TN and got out through a prison boot camp. Sorry for the long ass comment but I agree, if the prisons can’t keep ppl alive they need to re vamp something serious. I’m glad your speaking out on these issues. God bless & happy new year. Hope the casino is good to me tonight. Prison got me hooked on poker & gambling
That’s dope. How excactly did the bootcamp work? Is it as simple as completing a military style bootcamp ? Then boom you’re free? What kind of inmates got this kind of offer?
Happy New Year's Eve Mr Death Mr Sir I hope you and Brittany the kids and all the lockdown 23&1 gang have a great night and happy holidays!! Much love to everyone from Middletown Ohio 😸🖤💥🔥💨💯💯
In Indiana if you get sent to the maximum security prison in Michigan City & you can’t fight or hold your own you have zero chance of making it out without at least major injuries. If you punk out or they don’t like you for whatever reason they’ll contact your family & extort you. If your family doesn’t pay you get beaten once then they put you in these huge industrial washing machines that the prison has to profit off the inmates. Another part that sucks is one wall in there is all brick & glass and they purposely keep the windows open in the winter so the blankets are used as currency. The federal government has threatened to shut it down several times over the last 20 years but they do just enough to stay open.
