nice looking tank. the domed teardrop chamber section just has to give off beautiful flavor. the included extras are pretty neat, especially the spaced coil tool. nice pricepoint too. great to see more mouth-to-lung atomizers coming out of the woodwork. i feel like the more versatile the vaping experience can get, more people will be enticed to quit smoking. gives more reach to the cause. gotta get into the mtl game myself to conserve juice lol great review Nick thanks man!! :D

Seems a lot of people underestimate this tank. It vapes even better with 24G 3.mm 0.5ohm coil at 30-35watts. (will actually being trying 3.5mm coil next build) No spitting, no gurgling, no dry hits. Vape quality is exceptional. The draw on it is amazing, very smooth and tight. It is a fair bit harder to clean than my previous go-to (Lemo 2). And due to the elevated chimney design, if you don't wick all the way to the bottom then you waste 1 ml of juice each time you clean the tank. Build deck is easy enough to work with, however the clamping screws have a tendency to twist your coil a lot. Also on some mods like the Reuleaux 1,2 the AFC won't turn once the tank is screwed on. This tank deserves full marks for vape quality and flavour, though it's not without it's flaws. This tank would be perfect for anyone transitioning from cigarettes.

Look at all the comments explaining how other people are vaping wrong. If you like it and use it as an MTL tank, good for you. If it doesn't fit your personal style of MTLing, then try something else. Stop telling everyone how the tank doesn't do mtl right, just because it doesn't work the way you'd prefer. It works plenty fine for people who like it, and plenty of people like it. Great review Nick.

For those saying its too airy for MTL. With fat wire builds it is. You have to use 30 gauge wire and do 2-2.5mm builds. The thin wire builds fire instantly where the thick included coils do not there made more for cloud production. I have a 1.6ohm 2.5mm 30 gauge build on the smallest air hole and its as tight as a nautilus. Also use the other drip tip. A tight drip tip is a must also but 30 gauge wire is CRUCIAL.

Love that you are doing some more mtl stuff recently what I would love to see more often is mtl like 18mg juices reviews maybe on retro section or random juice tasting. Great work as always and keep on vaping!

thanks for the review. as far as all the recent mtl rtas that have come out in the recent months, this Ares is the best looking one imo. I really like that you can not only get a nice mtl, but also go full open and vape a restricted lung hit. Cheers to Phil and Dimitri. They knocked it out of the park with this guy.

Sorry Nick, Phil and Demitris but, I just do not enjoy the Ares. Think I may have built it up too much in my mind before I got it. It's like they tried to take their favorite parts of their favorite attys, Kayfun and Siren and combine them into something that is so in between lung styles that it can't satisfy any specific one. Got a Berserker Mini and am enjoying it way more.

Just picked up one of these for £10 with postage. Got tired of waiting for the Ares 2 Limited edition to become available. Edit: It sucks. Too airy and no flavour after the first few draws. Thank god I've also got an yachtvape pandora on the way.

I just ordered eight of these for a total of $24.37 DELIVERED. Hey, if it was all this cool only two years ago, I think I probably got my money's worth.

Too much airflow for my style of MTL. But I think I'll still pick one up (short version) to give it a try. And I know it has "adjustable airflow"... but if it's not being adjusted right in front of the coil, there's no point. I wish it would have interchangeable inserts.

A clicky air flow would be a great improvement. I think it needs a couple less holes in the air defuser below the coil to tighten up the air flow a little bit and increase the air velocity a little bit. More like the latest Kayfun.

It is understandable for people to say it is not a true MTL as it is not tight enough, but it is also understandable because Phil designed it because from most of his videos u can tell he prefers a loose draw MTL. So at the end it is just a matter of perspective and personal preference of whether it is a "perfect" MTL tank.

I’ve no idea why people are using the term “not a true MTL” I find mine on the 3rd smallest hole perfect for a MTL how I used to smoke. The Ares is one hell of a tank and if your prefer tighter airflow, doesn’t mean other air flows are incorrect.

I work for Grey Haze, a UK vape B&M and online store, had my eye on this for few weeks now, pulled the trigger today on this and a colossal from Asmodus. Its the perfect MTL for me, I like the option of having a very restricted lung hit, or a very restricted mtl, and all inbetween.

So I got this just now, I’m confused. This is honestly the best amount of vapor I’ve had! It’s perfect! Not hot, not “ a weather system “ lol BUT I’m not getting much flavor? I can tell it’s wicked alright because the vapor production is perfect! No leaking!!! I’m confused... I’m using the same cotton as normal and the pre made coil.. I LOVE my nautilus and the flavor of this juice is way better off that. I think I’m doing something wrong but don’t know what!

What is the point of the small outside airflow if the the airflow under the coil is huge? It does not make any sense. It can not be compared with Kayfun lite plus because KLP had a very tiny airflow under the coil.

Almost seems like an rdta style because of the way the cotton hangs below the deck section. When I first seen it, I thought the tank always had to be at least half full all the time.

I have one on order. I have been vaping kayfun lites for years because it seemed like everything was going sub ohm which I don’t like. I hope this is as good as my kayfuns cause I really like the top fill and the side screws on this.

Great review Nick. I always trust your reviews if you say it's good 9.5 banana stickers out of 10 when I get the product it is. My question is if the FDA took all your vape gear what would you get first the Kayfun or the Ares? Price not a factor.

After reading the comment s here, I get the impression that this tank suffered greatly from bad batches. People reporting leaking, but mine doesn't leak at all 50/50 juice shook it all around like crazy, no leakage at all. Air flow goes so tight that my head starts to cave in. AFC has a beautiful action on it, not lose at all. If anything it's rather right. And flavour is awesome! I think it was a mistake to rate this tank at 20 watts, it's vapes great at almost double that. That might explain the loss of flavour some people are having.

No clue where that blue tip came from, I have two ares and they come with a straight black and angled black.

great tank for salt nic BUT dont drop it. the positive sleeve inside is suuuuper thin and will shear off inside when dropped.

I don't like subohm vaping! I only have 1 coil left for my e leaf melo4 tank and am glad when i buy mtl coils again for my innokin zenith mtl tank! I am thinking about buying this tank or the kayfun prime clone version as my next tank! Which one would you guys recommend The Ares or a kayfun prime clone as my first rebuildable?

Idk the Ares 2 is well built great tank but I've tried every possible coil material there is and I just don't get much flavor from them,the bezerkers,thunderhead creations etc..I guess I'm a Rdtl /DTL guy as I get little to no flavor unless I'm using like a Mint menthol,tobacco or citrusy tropical fruit i get decent flavor but the included kanthal single wire coil wire that came with it just kinda sux 😆 imo Thnx Grimm.I wanted to love it tho

Great review Nick. I haven't bought 12mg since early 2014 so even wide open I bet my daily 6mg isn't gonna cut it. Every time I use spaced coils theres a huge pop in the middle of the puff. That first vape of the day is met with a bigger pop because the tank has been sitting all night. I only use DNA powered mods and I have never used clones. Any ideas because I doubt this happens a lot. If it did nobody would use spaced coils.

is there a way to disassemble it all the way? mine is shorting (short-circuit) even without any coil on it. i think there is something in it that create the short-circuit (rust? mine is old now) oddly with a coil on it the resistance drop more and more when i shoot and it's getting hot from inside. nothing is moving inside when i shake it.

It's a leaker. At first it seemed fine, but with use, it just flat out leaks!

Ares is a nice MTL Been using for a month. No problems with the ARES. I have heard the Siren 2 has better flavor. I have the 24mm Berserker and I hate that damn tank.

KFL+ still rules my world but the Ares is absolutely fantastic!

Might actually grab this for a MTL tank. The name ARES actually is from the Greek God Ares or Aries, or the Roman equivalent God and planet Mars and Zodiac sign.

That Ares thing is whistling in such a high ennoying frequency... just listen at 13:14 in the video. Bet all the dogs outside come running to you when you are vaping the Ares 🐕🐕🐕

There isn't just one way to mtl. Even when smoking cigarettes people don't all draw on cigs the same way. I've had this tank for about a month now. I was hoping it would approach the Aspire Nautilus in draw and flavor as I really enjoyed the Nautilus back in the days. While the tightest air hole in the Ares is slightly more open than the tightest air hole on the Nautilus, I've been really enjoying the Ares a lot. It has more air flow options than the Nautilus and better flavor. So if my wife threw out my Ares would I go and buy a new one? You bet your boopy I would :)

Honestly in it's stock configuration I really did not like this tank at all. It does however get exponentially better when you unthread that shitty airflow diffuser. You get a touch more air full open, the same fully tightened up, and the flavor gets sooo much better.

What MTL RTA's do you like these days?

I just bought this tank for my wife & I can tell you going from an innokin zenith to the innokin ares rta the flavor is so shit muted its unreal. No sweetness no fruit flavor just menthol that's it. & that's with the included coil & cotton bacon prime. She hit it a couple of times & made me change her tanks back out. So there just went 30+ dollars in the trash. I'm gonna try some mtl clapton coils but if I cant get a decent flavor from it it will be a waste of money. That's with 6mg chilled melon Remix and I tasted the difference & there is absolute no flavor any suggestions to make the wife happy?

Is a RDA cheaper than buying coils? I don't have enough money to keep buying coils its 15 dollar for 3 Q4 coils for my TFV8 tank and I need to change my coil every week. So iff a RDA is cheaper I'm thinking of buying one pls someone help me with this

I really enjoy this tank. Using only the second smallest airflow hole is almost perfect for me and it compares to the largest hole that I use on my Berserker. Feels very smooth. My only gripe is that it leaks a bit from the top cap if I lean the tank to the side or put it upside down when I want to fiddle with my build. It also looks pretty nice with my dhd chiquita tips. The loose afc like Grimm’s would be annoying but luckily mine is tight.

RTAs on hybrid tubes are awesome. Why does every reviewer say "I don't know why you would want to run it on a hybrid"? Why do you want to run any atty on a hybrid?

Not ideal airflow for MTL. You can DL with this :S For a true MTL experience and superior flavor go get Berserker MTL

Mouth to lung is great... Tbh, I would not be surprised if they start making squonker mouth to lungs... Just a thought. I don't see it going anywhere, but hell, who knows??

The airflow holes on the deck are to big and don't create the right pressure for a proper MTL. It won't give you a true MTL imo. That;s why I went with the berserker which I will be receiving shortly. This is exactly why reviewers shouldn't be allowed to design their own tanks or RDA's.
