Elham Azizi, PhD, is the 2024 Innovators in Science Award Early-Career Scientist winner, recognized for her groundbreaking work using AI and machine learning to advance the field of cancer immunology.
Prof. Azizi, assistant professor of biomedical engineering and the Herbert and Florence Irving Assistant Professor of Cancer Data Research at Columbia University, is developing a suite of computational tools to characterize immune profiles in the tumor microenvironment.
Dr. Azizi's team is mapping the tumor microenvironment, identifying which cells succumb to treatment and which persist. This has the potential to revolutionize the approach to cancer therapy, tailoring treatments to the unique cellular landscape of each patient’s tumor.
