I have not tried bluetooth tethering. I have tried wifi tethering with my iphone and the T199 and it works. The only gotcha to keep in mind is that you may have times if wifi it's available at boot that it takes a while to rescan and connect automatically to your hotspot. I've found that as long as the hotspot is one and available before the radios power on it's not typically a problem. Since the T199 doesn't have a screen it does make it challenging to troubleshoot wi-fi issues without a computer handy. You can also use a program called button mapper for android (Install it from an APK) to map one of the keys on the side to toggle Wi-Fi on/off.

I've had the best luck installing the Zello software, going into settings and hardware mapping and making sure I manually map the PTT key. Then go into the startup settings in the Zello app to make sure it runs on start and doesn't exit. In the android settings > power settings I disable battery optimization for the Zello app to keep it running. there are a lot of different android apps (apks) you can find that will also keep the radio awake and not allow it to sleep which seems to help keep the app running. Most of the time though I'm using the ZelloWork app/service since my first responder teams get a discounted version which has built-in support for the network radios and allow me to setup options that keep the user from closing the app, etc. Zello free app on network radios is mostly community supported. With Zello, the free version doesn't support network radios so no guarantee it works long term. That said... in Zello your Channel names have to start with two digit numbers that match your channel knob on the radio. "01 - Chat 1", "02 - Chat 2", etc. Do not user quotes "" in the name, I did just to show you the full channel name. Also note that on Zello you do need to setup your first channel as default using the 'star' icon in the Zello app. After you rename the Zello channels and log out/log back into the Zello app on the T199 the knob should work. Keep in mind because of the nature of Zello free things could change and you might have to go back into the radio to change settings or it could stop working.

We do offer to program radios purchased by us for $50/each. The PTT Service needs to already be setup and working (Zello, WalkieFleet,ATT, etc.) we would need the login information so we can add that to the device.
