Fascinating how people around the world have been “educated” to believe plastic straws are a primary reason for the World’s pollution! Excellent example of media getting folks (children and adults) to focus on an issue...real or perceived. The greatest scare is that most folks do not know they are being “educated”! Another beautiful video. Thank you. Be well.

I think the plastic straw is meant as a symbol for the pollution problem, it's not meant literally as the worst thing in the world... Liz

Unfortunately in the West most don't seem to get symbolic meaning. They will gladly accept a plastic water bottle and then look at you as if you just slapped their mother if offered a straw. Many live their lives in cubicles by day and go home for their education from what is now days passed off as news.

Mathew Davis - Adventures and DIY Exactly! In Mexico and the Caribbean, plastic fencing is used to protect nesting sea turtles and their eggs on the public beaches but some are “triggered” by anything made of plastic. Plastic fencing has done more for sea turtles than damage silly straws have done. I was in downtown Chicago last weekend and Chicago has banned plastic straws. Umm, Chicago is a thousand miles from the nearest sea turtle but that was the reason for the ban. Critical thinking is not in the educational system any longer. Now the focus is on what “pronouns to address non-binary humans”! I totally get it why folks chuck it all away and sail....sometimes in plastic boats (fiberglass is a common type of fiber-reinforced plastic using glass fibers). Be well and carry on my Friend.

This is great, how about a shot of the chart. Millie and co seem very relaxed, there is a lot of shipping though, the boat is pretty nippy should be OK..

It was all good in the end. Millie was more relaxed than us! Jamie filmed the traffic on our chartplotter (08:25), did you miss that? Liz 👌

Well done, nice vlog again We ( my colleges ) teachat our commercial captains training that commercial ships do have the right of way because their bigger. There is no debate about that. Big ships can’t move as you do so don’t aspect they can accommodate your rule book. Sometimes big ships can’t even stop due to current, waves or underwater obstacles. And if they stop they need some time to do so. So to all pleasure boats .. just stay a way from them.

Frequently not followed, including tugs with long loads. We came up from Indo but know Malaysia /Thailand well. Spent five years cruising your current neck of the woods. Have fun up there, there's loads to do!

Haha! It's one of 5 designs given to me by our friend, American McGee, from his Alchemy collection: mysterious.americanmcgee.com/products/alchemy-keys-necklaces?_pos=3&_sid=1941f1a83&_ss=r Each key references an alchemy symbol: Mercury, Saturn, Luna, Mars, and Venus. Mostly I tend to wear the Venus symbol (also the sign of female ♀️) and Luna (🌙).

@followtheboat
@followtheboat 4 года назад
Well, the Java Sea was new for us, and the southern Indian Ocean. When we headed to Borneo from Anambas it was new, and from hereon (real time) it will all be new! 😃🙏 Liz
@williambremner9022

Singapore Strait, piece of p*ss. I've crossed it 50+ times and never had an issue. I was more freaked out crossing the north/south shipping lane between W coast of Pulau Jemaja and Tioman when we departed Anambas at 0300hrs in late July this year. Merging with and crossing (bows and sterns of) those bigboys running at full speed in the dark is downright nerve-rattling. I chat on VHF with each before we are 2nm distant (or earlier) and let them know our intentions. Usually no issues but it's bloody scary when you're in-between two of them heading in opposite directions, in the dark.
@followtheboat
@followtheboat 4 года назад
Yes, that's a bastard of a crossing and we have that coming up soon. There was one incident between us and two tankers going in opposite directions that prompted a third skipper to come on the VHF saying "this is the best entertainment I've had at three in the morning in ages"! It was a comedy of errors for anyone listening to the three way conversation but it was a trifle disconcerting for us on a tight haul doing seven knots!
