I just wrote this to another reacter about an hour ago... "Seriously, as you delve deeper into the Band-Maid catalogue, you'll understand why there is such a hard, loyal push for this band. You'll understand why people say that they are "the greatest thing since sliced bread". They class themselves as a Hard Rock band... and that they are, BUT.... I often describe them as playing the "Hard Rock Sphere", grabbing styles from within and outside this ball that is Hard Rock. (They just call it wanting to play "Cool music". Lol) ".... end quote. You want more song to react to...... Their latest.... Different - 2020 Their first MV..... Trill - 2014 (You'll see their progress) Blooming, Choose Me, Bubble - My 3 favourites Rinne - their heaviest Daydreaming - a power ballad with a guitar solo that turns the song on it's head. And there's Play, Dice, Non Fiction Days, Puzzle, and so, so, so much much more. If you choose to go down this rabbit hole, it will consume you.....Coz it's a big, long hole..... and as of January 20, it gets even deeper as they will then release their latest album. 'Freedom' is their happy fun-time audience participation song. It's an older song they love playing live to amp up the crowd and just enjoy themselves. A happy BAND makes for a happy audience. Maybe try 'Real Existence' live for your next reaction. It hits hard and fast, but still retains that "catchy" BAND-MAID feel.

but not the Live video though, just the MV is fine. Their Live version is from a TV broadcast... sound quality is just not the same as what you will hear when you are at a live event.

Freedom is a fun rock song, not super technical (except the drums of course), there are plenty of very technical songs that are just awesome!!

The bones of a Band Maid song are pretty simple. Its the meat that gets crazy. The intro grabs you. First verse sets the tone. Catchy AF chorus. Second verse is similar to first verse BUT loaded with Easter eggs. In almost every song, one or more of the instruments goes rogue and colors the hell out of the riff established in the first verse. Second chorus is pretty similar to first chorus. Then you get the breakdown. After that a bridge and then normally out to another chorus. I know you're thinking, "That isn't all that odd" but oh my good man, it is. Their songs are onions you have to peel with your ears to get a full appreciation. I suggest two or three listens to get a good feel for the overall song. Then listen again, but hyper focus on only one instrument. Doesn't matter which because you're going to listen to each one anyway. These girls are closet prog musicians who screw around with hard rock for the giggles. Next up: "Play" live or if you want to see their softer side, try "Daydreaming" MV. If you want your spine severed, try "Different" MV (this is their newest MV and a song from the anime Log Horizon).

That Akane drum solo that leads up to a Kanami guitar solo is so epic! I love that part. Band-Maid is just a good band. They are technical but at the same time they have a lot fun performing and genuinely enjoying themselves. Like you said absolutely brilliant! 👍

Baby metal is more like 'theatre play' but their band is awesome if you're into metal. I would be more into them if they were an instrumental band. They are great in their own way. Band-maid offers everything I want in music though.

I like the way he stopped it to tell us about his friends clothing line that he ( for reasons. BEST known to himself) or more accurately only known to himself, thinks makes him look cool. Anyone who starts with "it's your boy" Is always and without fail, a personality deprived loser. I'm not going to bother with him.

I'd do ONSET. It's an instrumental, really shows off their skills. PLAY is also another great one to watch live, if it's up on their page still. Most all their live stuff is amazingly well mixed, but hard to find right now, as a lot of it's being pulled down. DICE is the only song I'd do the video of over live, none of the live mixes show off how great the base and guitar are in that song.

Two different styles, Baby Metal is great at what they do and Band Maid is great as well. Difference for me is the rock/pop/metal/prog fusion that Band Maid (especially newer songs) put into their music. Love me the MAIDS!

IMO, I don't really consider BabyMetal a band, per se. To me they are a heavily produced and choreographed, male / female Ensemble Pop Metal Act with awesome costumed musicians and singer / dancers performing theatric music written for them. IMO, BabyMetal trailblazed their niche genre into a super successful and unique spectacle to behold. But I find it hard to listen to their songs more than once or maybe a few times. Band-Maid is authentic (even down to their maid outfits and their "Gap" philosophy), and hits right at my heart and soul. Because their music is multi-genre, complex and played and performed so well and in earnest, I can listen to them over and over.
