Can you imagine having a best friend since 7th grade, who you built an underground empire with? They were just kids being kids, rapping, wrestling, chasing girls.....and now almost 30 years and millions of sold records later, they are just chillin on Hot 97. Still independent, still completely real, still best friends. I'm no juggalo, but these guys did it right. You gotta respect ICP
Starman It’s a fucking dream. I don’t even like their music but With everything they have done, I respect and would chill w them anytime. I’m talented but don’t really make music, but if I go for it, I want to go w them. Imma make $$ n make them $$.
@@mrj3217 irrelevance to the fullest, I'm sorry that happened, but it happens to millions everyday and makes no sense popping up here my dude. I hope he gets clean and you get your friend back, and I hope you learn about responses that make sense to the vids you post them to kbai
that's what Hip Hop culture is .. the voice of the voiceless. street life. real life that doesn't get reported mainstream style until We make it undeniable. bringing those that know together, through Hip Hop.
This is amazing. Never thought I'd see one of the morning shows have ICP on. Props to Ebro. I really appreciate that he took them seriously and treated them with respect. These guys are living legends in the game.
Bruh, anyone who can't at least respect these guys hustle and flow on independent grind for so many years are not real. They laid some groundwork for some of your favorite artists today on the indy level. They are hip hop history. Believe dat!
I'm not into ICP's music but every time I watch them in an interview I can't help but respect them even more. They just have no filter and just keep shit real. They have so much respect and love for hip hop.
YO! Did ICP just give me a thorough ass culture lesson? One of the most interesting interviews yet. They should have just let then go, and not try to question the paint.
I'm not a "Juggalo" or anything, but I find these dudes slightly fascinating. They've been in the game (the UNDERGROUND game, no less) longer than most acts, they are 100% devoted to their fans (when they say it's all about the fans, these fuckers actually mean it), and they're stayed true to their anti-mainstream success, and have never strayed. Also, J and Shaggy stayed homies since the beginning. There's a lot to respect there, don't you think? Juggalos themselves are super chill people, who don't discriminate, don't judge, none of that shit. I can't say I dig most of their content, but I do dig their older, more horror-based stuff (Amy's in the Attic, Prom Queen, etc.) So, yeah, just my opinion. They get too much hate, and they seem humble af.
i'm not a big ICP fan but you can't deny their hustle. been in the game longer than most of these so called rappers and have a solid fan base. They make their living and stay true to themselves. as an artist what more can you ask for? If you're not a fan of their music, that's fine but i have to respect these guys for grinding for so long and paving the way for a lot of other artists that may never have seen the light of day without them pushing boundaries for horrorcore and rap in general.
Isaac Baranoff in my opinion Esham had a lot more better quality albums than ICP. I'm just going off pure influence and not how much money they were making separately. Granted, they both suck nowadays but Esham was running shit in Detroit in the 90's man, ICP was influenced heavily by Esham (as they said in this very interview) Plain and simple if there was no Esham, ICP may not have got the certain edge they had to gain such a following.
David Nicolas callikg urself an artist is like calling urself the coolest cat in the world. other people shud call u an artist not urself u fuckimg dumbass
Lethal Force way off. You can't sell out if you're still exactly the same. Also Twiztid is the cause of this beef. ICP tried to be nice but they kept fucking pushing them and crossed the line when they signed the piece of shit Otis.
That hatchet man shit is serious. I was at Job Corps back in 01 and my roommate wanted to be a machinist. He made his own hatchet man necklace out of steel on a lathe. It looked good too. He was so proud of it he tied it to a shoe string and would wear it to bed until he could afford a nice chain to put it on. First day he got the chain and wore it out, Jobs Corps sent him home.
This is what Hip Hop is about. I never watched these guys but have so much respect for them after this conversation and their emersion in the history of Hip Hop and was fascinated. They are grinders and have lived the Hip Hop life of hustle, flow and grind.
Damn, when Violent J said he was gonna ask if they thought they were hip-hop... That's some humble/real shit right there . Respect where respect is due.
@@stanhanley6004 you can be respectful of something and not want to grt into it. I imagine people can see that about other hobbies, like they said wrestling.
nothing chills out these radio dudes like an ol school hiphop convo. They prolly thought they was gunna clown on ICP during the interview but got caught up in them when they started kickin that knowledge
Yo, at first I was like WTF? but this REALLY was a dope interview. they know and are very deeply rooted in hip hop and have endless knowledge of hip hop culture. I hate their music, but I respect their hustle. These guys went platinum 14 times.
^^^^^^^^^y'all are pushin it a bit now lol. With names like that I'm sure yall are white & juggalos so OF COURSE youre going to big them up as an integral part of hip hop (which they aren't). theyre cool dudes and put some good music onto a bigger crowd (like hopsin, tech, etc.) But themselves as MUSICIANS? They suck as MCs. Hip hop is first and foremost about THE MUSIC. ICP musically is not hip hop.
@@litbopeep5726 They rhyme over a beat, what the hell more do you want from an hip hop artist? Also, don't be a racist, not cool for a wannabe lifestyle vlogger.
I'm not a fan of ICP, I'm actually a fan (not a fanatic) of Strange Music, but ICP is right about what they said about Tech. I caught it on Tech's interview and felt it was kind of wrong to be saying what he did. It was wrong because Tech upholds himself as an honest, transparent, truthful man, and for the most part he actually is, but...he should give ICP that credit. Tech's show are always hella pact with Juggalos
one show I went to for Tech it was alot of Juggalos I was wondering what was going on with Tech N9ne meant with the meaning technicians I was under the impression that ICP and Tech N9ne was chill but they have some sort of beef or division?
I doubt there's any beef, like ICP said in the video. Technicians is just the label of his fans, and plenty of those happen to be Juggalos. I doubt any Juggalos actually consider themselves "Technicians" cause there's also plenty that aren't Juggalos. If it seems like there's division, I'm not talking for Tech, this is just my interpretation but it seems like he just wanted to create his own thing, instead of being completely associated with ICPs world.
Hugo I feel you I watched the same interview he talked about what I did notice with that interview he was hella shy when they compared him with ICP like he took it like a insult like ummmmmm? Ummmm? I can see why ICP kinda feel hurt like damn lol its like that ? But tech is going mainstream dont get me wrong he still is dope but I feel like its a divide going on
Not tru. Tech has tried so hard for a long time to separate himself from the filth garbage that is ICP/juggalos. His unfortunate association with them in the publics eye has really hurt and keot him from experiencing main stream success.
their 2 songs with Ol' Dirty Bastard, and the one with Snoop Dogg are still in prominent rotation on my music playlists (not to mention the entire Riddlebox album)
I just admire by what they built and am fascinated by it. They thought of some really creative stuff. Just the gimmicks and philosophy on showmanship. They know more than they let on and more than they realize. Just the humor bits in their albums show how observant and self aware they are.
Tech tries to play both sides. On 1 hand he praises Icp fans and then on mainstream interviews he fronts they are a small aspect of his success. I'm not even an Icp fan but I can see thru his hustle
Krowman84 I think he’s a bit embarrassed by his affiliation with ICP/Juggalos. I think, he thinks it will hinder his success if he fully acknowledges it. The mainstream will reject him if he fully owns it.
Violent J's response to the question about some ICP fans violent acts: "What about Dolly Partons pedophile fans? WE DON'T KNOW HOW MANY THERE ARE??!!!". Very funny and true response.
I remember icp album in stores I remember the slim shady beaf nd I never paid attention nd as a true hip hop head I am ashamed of myself. To the icp juggalos movement I wna apologize nd giv y'all a huge familee shout out. Most informative interview I've seen in years!! From this day forward ima juggalos too BIG UP FAMLEEEEE
Wow. That was a very informative hour. ICP dropped mad knowledge, specially about Detroit, connecting the dots between them, Eminem, Proof, D12, Kid Rock, Esham, Papa Doc, Freestyle Circle but also set the record straight about ICP and the Juggalo movement. I really hope Tech N9ne doesn't take offense to their clarifications to his remarks.
Awesome seeing them on a platform like this, they are multi platinum selling artists that built an empire worldwide and have stayed relevant for 20+ years by themselfs, even if you think they trash if you have any respect for music at all you have to appriciate they're grind
I'm not into ICP but you gotta love it when dudes reminisce and discuss hip-hop. The way they speak about seeing the Geto Boyz man.. talking about Kid Rock starting up. Some good shit.
every tech show I have been to, he ALWAYS gives love to the Juggalos ALWAYS... and I've been going to see tech over 10 yrs now... HOW long and how much props do these guys need ?
I'm not a fan of their music but I respect their hustle and longevity. They made careers for themselves and their artists, built a huge fan base and created their own lane. Props
@@mikejordan8259 or at least have the heart to fight. You got a group thats bullying you just pick the biggest one and STEAL THAT BITCH from the blindside. Might get your ass whipped...might not. But you'll get respect either way
ICP love em or hate em they been around longer than most of your favorite rappers and they still doing it and running strong independently Juggalo 4 Life FTW🖕😎
ODD Reality oh for real!!! Str8 dudes 6:15-ing (nodding out) trying to mumble some WEAK ASS "rhymes". It's like " I KNOW u do NOT Know a SINGLE WORD ol' boy just said in that 'song'". U know damn str8 u don't know what he said. Hahahahahahahaha
ODD Reality ICP are my favorite rappers, have been for years. And i enjoy mumble rap, I enjy insane death and black metal, I enjoy rock, hip hop, I like it all. Tell my how hating on one style of rap is different than hating on ICPs style?
From 5th-7th I was a hug fan, bought all the albums up until then. Threw them out when I was like 14. I regret it from time to time. They had some gems to be real. On some music shit.
thank you hot 97 for this interview. after seeing the interview with tech and how he danced around being down with juggalos and icp and his gathering comments. much love to icp. and again thank you so much for this interview it is much deserved not only for juggalos and Icp but for hip hop.
I'm so happy that Violent lost weight. I was truly worried about his health. I may not follow them like I used to but, I still care. Way to go Violent J!
They do a lot of charity, and a lot of other dope shit. most can't get past the face paint. They sadly are the least respected group. 20+ years later they still here millionaires.
Really good interview! Been following them for 25 years, glad to hear civilized questions, and intrigue. Instead of the jargon I usually hear in interviews.
Thank you for interviewing them I didn't even read the comments below but I imagine it's 99% HATE. Even if its the ONLY TIME y'all interview them. Good stuff
I feel ya! I still have my hatchet man car stuff I bought in high school (my favorite is my hatchet man key lanyard I use to this day & purchased in 2001!! Juggalette 4life!!
Being from Jackson Michigan, having lived in Flint, & Detroit I love seeing podcasts like this with Michigan grown talent. I as a kid had to hide my favorite music. Artists like esham, natas, mastamind,ICP,blaze ect. from Flint I liked top authority, Dayton family. I love the rock,metal,rap,hip-hop, Motown from home. I think a lot of people from these areas love the theatrics because it's a idea of hope or fantasy from everyday crap. I will admit I originally got into ICP because I always have loved clowns of all types. I am far from uneducated I am a electrician who is former military. people like what speaks to them. I can't wait until I can get out of Vegas and get back home. I would love to hear ICP rap about real conies. Also the best faygo flavor in my opinion is rockin rye
Thats dope. I grew up in toledo and live in vegas now too. Its crazy that there are artists that blow up in the midwest and cant sell a ten seater in LA but can sell a festival out in michagain or indiana. I cant think of one vegas artist that is local and huge and only big in this area. In the midwest you got hip hop local artists that are huge and just tour the midwest. There are rock bands that are doin the same in the midwest. Eskoostic hooka is a midwest rock band doing the same as icp. Cant sell a ten seater out in LA but sell out a festiville in ohio.
I died when they said you can’t get on a plane with your face painted. I can imagine the look on kids and old ladies faces with them siting next to them 😂 💀
i am hip hop to the core and i never understood what these guys are about i've never listened to their music but this interview just gave me a new look at them and a respect i never new and that's my fault. i'm gonna go check'em out salute ICP and EBRO thank you peace.
Love they have ICP ON HERE! From the bronx, had couple of white friends in pennsylvania and they go hard for juggalo!! Never disrespect the family! I will always respect this group this what made me be me!!! #rs !!
