sorry man, but you still aren't quite understanding what the Calibration tab is and does. I'll see if i can work with someone at Adobe to finally create and publish a definitive explanation. It's really not that difficult to understand what's going on under the hood, but seems like it's still a mystery to most.
@@SignatureEdits Hmmm, well it's easy to understand but difficult to explain without visual references! I'll try and put together either a video or some sort of visual for what those sliders are doing under the hood.
@@eartho Hmm So you can't explain it, You have a channel with cat videos and no photo editing videos but you are here to criticize. I think that the Signature edits guy did a great job of showing us how to at least experiment with this tool. Along with what it can be used for. As far as an explanation of the tool it is fairly obvious to all Photoshop experts that The calibration tool affects The colour worked on,in all the colours of your image, Not just the red, green or blue you are working on. This brings me to an interesting idea, what if you use Camera Raw as a filter, only using The calibration tool. Then use a luminosity mask or a channel mask to only affect the colours in the image you want to , or use blend if to protect the highlights or shadows from being affected by the edit?. Eartho please make a video on calibration share your secrets
I am half way through the video.. and i think signature edits explained it well enough to use this tool.. earlier i was using it just to introduce some contrast in my image but I know a lot more on how and when to use it.. one question.. this camera calibration will be used mostly when there is an artificial source of light?
I can finally fix all those weird colour casts without spending ages playing with the HSL/Colour and never quite being 100% happy with it! You're a lifesaver! Super informative video too, love your use of colour wheels to really demonstrate what's going on, illustrates it ten times better than any photo ever could!
Amazing! I totally agree - Until recently I had NO idea the calibration could fix these kinds of things... I was mostly just using it for stylistic purposes but didn't reaaaaally know what it did. Glad to help - Take care Xander!
The reason why the green has such an impact on the wedding photos is because the "color" panels on your sensor is majority green because green give's the most luminence making your sensor more sensitive to light. That does however effect the light and ur image turns green. This is where WB and Tint come into play and your colorspace as the color space is a mathmatical way of getting rid of the green that is on your sensor. So by changing the green the "equation" get altered and you end up with that result of green going down but your skintones stay boosted in luminance as the camera profile has preset those colours to fix the colors. Don't quote me but that's how it makes sense to me from the small bit I know of the sensors!
@@alex_aka_dev So is it enough to just correct the white balance correctly when there is a ripple from the green, or do you need to correct the colour additionally?
It is great that you don't just do a short video to explain a concept or make a point but you actually go through several different image scenarios and that is what makes us understand the usability of the different tools we have access to. I really appreciate the time you take to do this. Great content!
Your channel is hands down the best in explaining things! You really dive down deep to explain complex things but with so much ease! You're the only reason i understood the colour grading and curves in editing after years of ignoring them because i couldn't just understand them! So much appreciation for you. ❤️
Thanks for sharing. I knew about Calibration, but it makes it more accessible with your more technical explanation with the color wheels and the light waveform charts. Thanks for taking the time to put this together!
Wow! This is the most useful video on photography I've seen in a loooong time! Been stuck in my progress and hating my photos and could not realise what was my problem! This is it! Thanks a ton!!!
This is a mind blowing tutorial i ever seen just to deal with color cast specially on skin in outdoor portraits. Thank you soo much for sharing this I learned a lot from this
Wow thank you for this tutorial, I've been using LR for 6+ years and never quite understood the calibration, but never thought I really needed. Now I just realised how easy it is to remove cast from HDR photo lol !!! thank you for sharing and for making me better at my job
