This song was originally made by the members! Swan and Goeun wrote and composed it and then Yuki wrote her rap parts. They did it for a monthly evaluation during their trainee days. The girls were very involved in the making of all the songs on their debut album. Writing composing and even choreographing. We love a self-made group 💜

The overall plot of the lyrics is that they are witches poisoning you so you will be helplessly in love with them. I'm assuming the male is demon they've summoned. He has snakes rising up from his head and we've got the Medusa for snakes and the spiders. All poison imagery. Especially given how much you like Dosie you should check out their stage break performance doing Mad at Disney. She has a dance solo in the middle.

PURPLE KISS has been called “MAMAMOO’s younger sisters” for being the first girl group to debut after MAMAMOO under RBW. (That’s why they got crazy vocals). The meaning of “PURPLE KISS” is that the members bring their own colors to make a harmonious whole, just as “purple” is a harmonious blend of multiple colors. Same as G-Idle, they’re self made produce group (participate to wrote & produce all the songs from the album, Into Violet). Check them out! Their debut track, “Ponzona,” means “poison” in Spanish. Na Goeun, Yuki, and Swan participated in writing and producing “Ponzona.” Swan said, “The song was originally made for a trainee evaluation. I wanted to show PURPLE KISS’s unique colors through the song. I’m glad that the song went over well and it was even selected as our debut track. I’m going to keep studying so that I can keep making good music.”

I haven't read through the comments but after 2 Years someone must have pointed this out. the "poison" Ponzona literally means Venom. The idea is that they are going to poison you, the viewer, to make you love them and then you're hooked. The interesting thing about Purple Kiss is they always throw curve balls at you, Naughty but nice, cute but dangerous, etc. They are not cut from the typical K-Pop mould and I think that has hurt them a bit but imo they are the best of the best in this genre. If you ever re-watch anyting with an eye for detail, pay attention to all of the subtleties, they are Corregraphers, Singers, dancers, actors, they embody the lyrics in a way that I have rarely seen, The vibe that i get from them is,' yeah, I'm cute, but there is so much more so you better watch your step or I'll crush you. I hope that RBW studios can sort out how to expose them without making them conform to the typical cookie-cutter version of K-pop. I think their vibe and the message that they espouse would resonate with many Western viewers. Anywaze. thanks for the great video, Reactions were off the chain, great fun...

Yessss! I was waiting for this one! Three of the girls with mainly Swan leading them wrote this song for a trainee evaluation. The song is about them painting the world purple and infecting everyone with their infectious charms. Their entire debut album is great. I would recommend watching some of their stages. They are flawless. The one you loved is Dosie. She is the short blonde bob haircut.

Yes, Swan (1:38) is 17. But here’s the real kicker, she wrote the song, with some help from Goeun (1:59) & Yuki (rapper). She wrote it for a monthly trainee project when she was 16 & the producers liked the song so much they made it the debut tt….that is pretty much unheard of in kpop! They’re all very talented as each of them has at least 1 writing credit on the album & Yuki, who is Japanese & only started learning Korean about 3 years ago when she began her training at JYP (moved to RBW in after about 18 months there), wrote all the rap verses on all the songs on the album (Chaein helped with a few). Yuki turned 18 last November….the talent in this group, considering their ages, in mind boggling!

My opinion... I think the video concept should refer to the witchcraft tradition of imprisoning the horned god (later identified with the devil by catholics) in order to take his powers and to transfer them to the mother of the witch coven, the girl that take the mask at the end of the video is Jieun that is the oldest member, there are all the characteristics of the rite, the imprisoned girl that attract the god/devil, the witch circle that bind the god to the earth, the blood sacrifice, and then the theft of the mask. Ponzona is instead releted to the same group that, like the poison, will spread within the fans and the listeners.
