I've never seen anything like this before, AMAZING machines at the old RAF airfield of Deenethorpe.
My name is Terry Kent and I am a General Aviation PPL private pilot operating out of Andrewsfield EGSL about 25 miles to the north east of London in the UK. Short Field is my channel focused on the lighter side of General Aviation including flight and airfield reviews, equipment unboxing and review plus all things private pilot related. I use various cameras to record my videos including GoPro and Insta 360 and stills and edit them in Adobe Premiere Pro, I am an animator as well and often use animations to describe situations more clearly I use Blender and Adobe After Effects for these. I always attempt to post my videos in the highest possible quality, normally 4k.
I fly a 2011 Pipersport two seat single engine aircraft that is also known as the PS28 or SportCruiser in the USA (America) it is known under the FAA as an LSA or Light Sport Aircraft and can be flown on a very basic license. In the UK it is a Part 21 airplane which requires a full licence but it's generally cheap to run, affordable maintenance and great value for money. It cruises at 100 to 105 knots and has superb short take off and landing or STOL capabilities. I visit farm strips, back country and short airfields, some of them dangerous and I try not to crash :-), as well as international airports and try to learn something new every time I fly.
#ppl #generalaviation #pilotlife
I fly VFR and IFR as well as visual and instrument approaches.
While my videos may offer insights for pilots, it's essential to note that they are purely for entertainment. I am not a certified instructor, and viewers should not apply anything showcased in the videos to real-world aviation. Additionally, the status of airfields featured in my videos may have changed since filming, so it's crucial to refer to the latest information for accurate details in your region.
If you enjoyed the content, please consider giving it a 'thumbs up' and leaving a comment. I value your feedback and appreciate hearing what aspects you enjoyed or disliked. Feel free to share the video with others who might find it interesting, and if you haven't already, consider subscribing and enabling notifications to stay updated on future uploads.
If you are interested, I have hundreds of hours of light aircraft video content which is available to purchase as stock footage, please contact me via my email address in the ABOUT section of my channel for more information.
If you like my content you could buy me a coffee but no worries if you don't want too, I'm just chuffed that you are even interested in my videos, and if you ever see me at any airfields please come over and say 'Hi' and I'll probably buy you a coffee.

Lovely outing! As a student pilot and former model airplane pilot, I'm amazed at seeing models and full size aircraft share a runway. I used to fly models at an old air force field that was also used by towed gliders, but we'd use the taxiways and they had the runway. Even so we had a radio to coordinate operations when necessary.

Thank you Terry. 6am here in Sydney, hot mug in my hand and about 15 mins of wonderful aviation viewing to enjoy before getting on with my work! You really do put together a great story - love the history and the airspace/airfield overviews - production is superb. Really makes me want to return to flying when the kids are earning their own $$!! Cheers mate from Sydney - David

UL/LSA/microlights for the win. So much leaner than the post war designs. And interestingly it could be so much better still. Far more capable, lower price. Side note: Sling did a version of their planes for noise reduction with a muffler and a special prop from Gatto. The prop supposedly was vastly more quiet than your typical prop. Something to consider, a quieter ride for light planes would really lift them.

Fab little video. Looks like a fun adventure, the model aircraft are amazing. The little piper sport sounds almost like it’s electric as you build speed on the runway. It’s a really gentle sound compared to the aggro from the piper warriors I’m more familiar with.

As always, very enjoyable to watch. Some of those models can be huge. We have a danger area near us that has a runway just for the models to fly off. Almost looks long enough to land on from the air. Never actually asked how long it is.

@ColinWatters
@ColinWatters 19 дней назад
On the few occasions I've flown models at an active airfield its normal for all models to be grounded for the duration of full size traffic and it appears that's what happened here. Listen at 11:36. The Britsh Model Flying Association run a certificate of competency scheme.

I grew up on a private airstrip inhabited by a gaggle of ultralights and one or two production singles many of whom would fly out every morning in the flying season, I too had an ultralight hangared there but used to fly my RC models from the active with a radio always monitored for returning or in the pattern aircraft and never once was there an incursion or incident and all involved were happy with the arrangement. That said that was the exception, as I grew in aviation I have come to feel that the two should never mix. The potential for tragedy is immense

Love the drone shot with the car AND the plane landing! At 03:35 you said flaps can come up. I'm not a light aircraft pilot, but I was surprised you said that considering how low you were. Is that a common thing to do?
@ShortField

Flap retraction is speed related Mark. Yes organising the aircraft to be in shot as I went by was very tricky 😂😂 no total luck 😂😂😂
@markallisonparamotor

@@ShortField yeah I just feel that the wind isn’t the only consideration when taking off downwind at uncontrolled airfields. It sounded like there was a lot of GA in the area too which could’ve been making an approach to the airfield on the reciprocal runway, could’ve been nasty.

Very cool Terry, I've, like most, built and flown model aircraft (not the posh jets I hasten to add) it's not 'IF they crash but WHEN they crash' heartbreaking after all the work and costs. I do love the large scale stuff though, I've a friend who used to fly a large scale Extra 300. A lot of model fliers I've known have become PPLs. Can I just ask, as I'm a bit confused, is your Sports Cruiser, 600kg? If so, what licences are required to fly such now - Eg can they be flown on a NPPL(M)? Thanks in advance and for another great video, I always look forward to them👍💜😊✌️
@ShortField
@ShortField 27 дней назад
Thanks for your always supportive comments. You can fly the SportCruiser on an NPPL in the UK only, however you need the SSEA sign off even though microlights have increased to 600kg.

@@ShortField You're always welcome Terry, great videos😊✌️💜 Thanks for the info, I did wonder if that was the case - bit confusing isn't it.
