Ever wanted to see the Arsenal Bird from Ace Combat shoved into the Wingman universe? Well now you can with the ungodly power of ArmA modding. This kinda turned into a dream air plane game mash up operation and I’m thrilled that we were able to run it. Do me a favor and go send some love WebKnight’s way on his workshop page because he had some sleepless nights getting it released for this. (Also keep in mind it’s still being worked on) steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2685067743
but would't the lost of their carrier mean that now the invading forces don't have any type of air to support them while holding against a possible enemy counter attack?
This turned into like the story of group of friends in the military that fought against a monster that they couldn't beat at the end. I was genuinely sad at the ending.
This, was the beginning... the beginning of a larger, more violent struggle, Ignis may have fell, but they completed there objectives, and after 2 months of heavy fighting, their "benefactors " managed to secure the island. After the war, a memorial was made to the many pilots that fell ijn the conflict, Ignis was given there own memorial, it was a peice of there aircraft carrier, and of the superweapon they downed, ingrained on it, is the dog fight between the last remaing Ignis pilot, and the dreaded Crimson, before his aircraft was downed... out of all the remains, his was not found... Some say that he lived... others say his body was lost to the sea... I, I personal think the former, a certain mute, that in the end downed the dreaded Crimson in the end of the war, disapeared. Though there are accounts a strange man, who wears simple clothes, scars near his neck, and a look of fire, visits the memorial every anniversary of Ignis's final operation, though, none can confirm this tale, one can dream
The man could only watch, he was standing there, seeing the photos of the pilots with their names in them, Cypher, Bobcat, Raptor, Capybara, Flying Gromit, and many more, he met them before, he flew with them before, he liked them, but this men fell victim of Crimson, the dreaded pilot he downed, deep inside of him, that was revenge for them.
I like to think another side of it is that Ignis is Hitman’s sister squadron, and Raptor was the kid brother of Monarch, who took on a vow of silence until he avenged his brother.
This felt less like the normal "Haha memey videos" and more of the "Sad, depressing war" kind of video. I loved it the same, both the funny meme-y parts, and the sad depressing parts (i.e. Jay calling out for Bobcat, who was 100% dead, before crashing into the water)
ngl I was expecting to see something like Carter from Halo Reach, like one of the planes runs out of ammo and just rams the massive ship "You don't got any guns!" "...I got the mass." This video and mod is very cool so far! Hope to see more!
@@porky8278 If you're part of the Project Wingman Discord server just ping the VA/Moderator for Captain Woodward. He'll send you the link and ask a few questions before you join
I love how there’s just calm music and the shutter of the plane for the finale boss fight. It’s how you know it’s the end. I wish games did this. Thanks for the great OP RubixRaptor!!!!!
Yep, as soon as web added that (basically he did that mid fucking session like the god he is) and let's just say the tags immediately went silly... Overall playing with web is always an interesting experience
Yeah it's great! Though it's more like the ace combat subtitles. Project Wingman doesn't use . Edit: AWACS Solitude and Crimson use project wingman like subtitles.
It was a victory though. The island was secured and the super weapon destroyed. It was extremely phyricc though at a loss of a carrier and all air assets
Someone should make an Ace Combat mod that swaps the in game voice lines for the banter between Jay and the other Ignis pilots. I just noticed Cyphers call sign is "Cyphers big BALLS". What a legend.
This mod and mission was so impressive that through the video I forgot multiple times that it was arma 3, if it did not had the arma HUD I would not even believe it was a mod for it.
Average arma 3 modder: Imports some janky models and writes basic bitch code. Chad Webknight enthusiast: Emulates a different fucking game entirely within arma 3 without it crashing and desyncing the entire server.
I really thought that the multiplayer comm chatter added a huge amount to what is otherwise potentially a dry experience of just flying a plane and waiting for locks on targets. I found myself tilting my head a lot throughout since i'm not used to such prolonged videos from pilots in ARMA.
What a mad intro, you even put shadows under the little fighters in the brief!! Duuuude your editing is getting better and better each video! Banger video all in all lad especially that cinematic ending, dogfighting systems look fun as balls I'm gonna have to give that mod a turn I think.
Man if this mod can be mixed into standard ops that'd be so cool. Either running air support, or some kind of mission in hostile territory and getting shot down and having to bail and then trying to get back to saftey
Combined arms, especially when the ground team needs to relay or laser target enemy land units for the air team to soften or destroy, or allow sea team to perform a naval bombardment with HE shells
I've been getting into Ace Combat in the last few weeks, played an excessive amount of 4 and Zero so far, and was kinda disappointed to find out that there weren't any nice Arma mods of it. The release of this mod comes at a very convenient time for me.
I've been a big fan of the channel a while now, but this is my favorite thing you've done, amazing work! Would love to see more ops like this, and we must have a completion of the Crimson story! You must be granted your revenge!
@@SgtChip tbh I instantly recognized it for the worse reason: when the pilot's plane started burning up I recognized it as the HECU Gasmask scream when they got set on fire. What does that say about me?
Just be glad you didn't face the Gleipnir from Laesath. The SWBMs alone would've likely wiped you all out. Also, the line delivery, when it was Raptor and Crimson alone, was freaking on point damn.
I'm glad that someone's still making ARMA 3 scenarios like this. I think the last time I saw it happen in any way similar to this was that one time I saw TMTM run an Ace Combat 4 style mission where they had to get rid of a Stonehenge cannon.
Wooh! This looks amazing! Reminds me of when i used to play "Crimson sky's" (or a game that had a similar name idk it's been years) as a kid! So much fun!
Thanks for the video. This was neat and unexpected short film experience was cool. Music choice was good too. Thanks for listing those in description. As someone who isn't good at flying in games, I appreciate watching it. I'm still interested in Project Wingman now. :)
This is exactly the kind of thing I wish I could do--roleplaying in a sandbox with a bunch of friends and just going ham with mods and having a great time. It was obvious the video was second to the experience you guys had playing. Thanks for giving us a glimpse :D Also I love how the "superweapon" is literally just an oversized MQ-101/X-47B with targets scattered all over it xD
So you were flying (The Red Devils) VMFA-232’s show bird. While I was stationed at MCAS Miramar my squadron, VMFA (AW) 225 aka The Vikings, was right across the flight line from them.
This battle against the Federation took place in a war 5-10 years before the events of the Cascadian Conflict. It is official part of the lore, canon, and no one can ever convince me otherwise.
