I'm about 2 weeks into this band (random YT search of the word "ghost" for paranormal vids) and holy hell are they fracking awesome. Every album, every song available I've devoured endlessly and will continue to do so even after Lacrimus drops their new album here shortly. Very happy I've discovered this band.
I wonder if it is designed that way. Something about their music. Or maybe not. I'm not sure. Cause I've read that everywhere. Someone discovers Ghost and listens to All and I mean ALL their tracks. Even the E.P.s and special bonus tracks. I've never had that happen with any other band I listen too. I like a few tracks on a few albums and will listen occasionally when they pop into my head. But I've never just had the urge to listen to ALL their music, like with Ghost here. The only two other bands I've kinda had similar experiences with are Gorillaz and Foo Fighters. Gorillaz I own all but 2 albums and one Demo/E.P., and for Foo Fighters I own 5 albums. But I don't know... I could be reading too much into it. Especially with the subject matter of their music, it could just be good music. But I think there's some kind of conspiracy going on because of all the satanic themes and such. But really no. Cause I've heard people say they don't really like Ghost and others say they hate it. So... I don't know. Yeah... The more I think about it. I feel I am putting to much thought into it. Cause I've shown my brothers this band, and even some other family members. Some are indifferent about it. And some get a song stuck in their head sometimes. But nobody is foaming at the mouth for all of Ghost's songs. So I think I'm overreacting. Although I can tell you right now personally I would love to own all of Ghost albums, E.P.s, bonus tracks and all. That's probably just me then isn't it. Yeah I think so. Sorry if this sounds very rambly... I literally typed this as I was thinking it. So... It probably sounds very crazy. Oh well. I guess the moral of the story is. Some people REALLY like Ghost like us, some are; "Meh..." About it and others hate it, or say the band fell off. And there is no weird sorta magic in their music, I just personally thought so, cause of the subject matter and my personal beliefs. Alright! Your local psychopath is outta here! See ya!
The live version of He Is from the Swedish Grammis and the live version of Cirice from their performance on The Colbert Show were the first two songs I heard after stumbling on their Enter Sandman cover. They're amazing.
I love ghost cause they don't take themselves as serious people think they do from how they look. their latest album Impera is absolutely phenomenal. I highly recommend twenties for their heaviest track, then spillways, Griftwood and Kaiserion for more 80's tunes.
Call me little sunshine is a quote from Alistair Crowley. Mephistopheles is Satan:s man on earth. The song is about him reaching out telling you that he always will be there for you. Do Kaisarion next.
@@brettbays7530 it's the devil tempting the person to give in to him, to accept his help and believe he is there to help, and it's a metaphor for how cults and religious institutions trick people into trusting them, it's very similar to another song of theirs, Cirice
@@kb1629 I said isn't exactly. When ppl assume Satanism they think sacrificing babies and believing in a physical Satan lol as far as their music goes, They're not trying to convert ppl...they point out the parody within religion and the rest is in fact theater
This song went to #1 on the Billboard rock charts. A song about calling out to Satan (ironically, obviously). It's amazing. My favorite songs by them are From the Pinnacle to the Pit (Satan), Rats (plague & probably Tobias' former touring band mates), Kiss the Go-Goat (set in the 60s), & from this album Darkness at the Heart of my Love. Oh and you should check out some live videos. They are incredible performers.
It’s a pleasure to hear something that sounds like it belongs in the eighties. Great melodic band could imagine them doing a concert with Bon jovi ,skid row, guns and roses that kind of sound . There right up there with these bands and would have fitted right into that melodic type of rock.
@Taylor OBrian What are you trying to say? I really do not care about religion in the slightest. If anything, Ghost mocking it makes me like them more.
Ghost has a very interesting catalog. As a Ghost fan I would suggest the following: 1) Cirice- they won a Grammy for this one in 2016 for Best Hard Rock/ Metal Performance. Similar vibe to Call Me Little Sunshine 2) Rats- Banger of a track with a pretty cool video. 3) Kaisarion - off the newest album. Lyrics based off actual events. 4) Dance Macabre - 80’s pop-metal vibe 5) From the Pinnacle to the Pit- song about the fall of Satan 6) Ritual - song sounds innocent, but the lyrics make it really dark and evil 7) Year Zero - basically hailing the rise of Satan 8) He Is - another interesting twist. Talking about Satan the same way people talk about God/Jesus
Love your analysis of this band. I am not a satanist by any means so I have some similar reactions to their music as you do. I love how they've never taken themselves too seriously. I think it's a means of interpreting spiritual warfare and I think this band is a means of tapping into complex concepts that no band has ever tried to tap into before. It's fun and it makes first time listeners laugh because there's really nothing else like it.
The first time I heard this I dismissed the lyrics as just another song about 'Satan' based on the past material. After watching the video "I" interpret this differently now. I hear a song about drug addiction. Sunshine or Yellow Sunshine is LSD. Mephistopheles is confused by most as a metaphor for Satan however Mephistopheles was a demon, that 'demon' drug reference is self explanatory. "call out in the middle of the night", craving "light up in the middle of the day", in the video the pipe is representative of smoking heroin "Ease up to the hunter from the prey", seeking the fix and becoming its victim "And transform indefinitely", death "Even when you're dead and gone, You can always reach me", I have a friend that's an EMT. They revived an OD one night and the guy immediately wanted a fix when he regained consciousness. As I said, this is just my interpretation, everyone hears what they want.
This makes total sense as I’ve thought the chorus has such an Alice In Chains sound to it… tie in with Layne/heroin. It’s like psychedelic grunge metal.
I really suggest watching more interviews with this band or band front man. I really believe people really need to relax and realize that this is a gimmick. A genius one at that. A genius one that is working. Ghost is also a really great band with great rhythms, melodies, harmonies and groove. It is hard enough to make it in the industry these days and Ghost was smart enough to figure out how to brand themselves marketable. To bad the internet was not available (in the 70's) to catalog all the things said about KISS when they came out. It is all extremely similar.
I finally got to see them live back in January. Best. Show. Ever!!!! Love Papa and the Ghouls! As for other tracks to check out, I recommend the following. Year Zero Mummy Dust Cirice Kiss the Go-Goat From the Pinnacle to the Pit Faith Rats Monstrance Clock He Is
They recently released a video for Spillways, which is super catchy and melodic. Tobias has a lot of fun poking christianity, especially catholicism, in the eye, which is one reason I love this band.
When I first hear a song that I really really like I get goosebumps on my arms like crazy. Just curious if you also get physical reactions to good music?
Favourite Ghost song for me is "Respite on the Spitalfields" (last song on the new Impera album). It's about the terror caused by serial killer Jack The Ripper in East London. It's fantastic! The production on this album is ridiculous. Every instrument is crystal clear. The song ends with the same guitar loop as in the opening track "Imperium", completing the circle. Perfect!
I know Tobias has said this is about Jack The Ripper, but for me that song is really describing the fall of an empire. Empires usually fall apart from the inside and go out with a whimper rather than a bang. "Nothing ever lasts forever, we will go softly into the night". And then at the end you hear the melody from the opening track, so it feels like this empire has fallen and another one is about to start. Killer song, Ghost are just awesome.
“Bible” is a cover they did from another 90’s punk band, but its honestly one of the best songs and it sounds like it was their song from the beginning
You would like, "He Is" from Ghost. It's exactly like a church song but with this same type of twist. Tobias has a Jim Jones thing going on in the video.
Love that line you can call me even when you are dead and gone 😂 love ghost I'd recommend a song but this video is a year old you probably no all there stuff now great reactions 😀
Good thing he wasn't in the middle of drinking his Coca-Cola when Ghost sings even when you're dead and gone you can always reach me all you gotta do is call meeeeeeeLITTLE SUNSHINE 🌞
Cirice, Stand by Him, Zombie Queen, Hunters Moon, Year Zero, Rats, Square Hammer, Twenties, Darkness at the Heart of my Love, Respite on the Spitalfields, Body and Blood, Dance Macabre and Life Eternal are all good
Your realization made me realize it is probably very much about drugs ☺️ Light up in the middle of the day. Even the devil is all twisted out of reality
If your still looking at this thread. Year zero, monstrance clock, and cirice are all amazing tunes by ghost.... A little older I know, but Ive been a fan of them a long time. Kudos
After watching this video, I looked through others you’ve uploaded. Unless I missed it, have you not reacted to Opeth? Please do The Leper Affinity, Ghost of Perdition, Blackwater Park, or Deliverance 🙏🏻
Your reaction was mine exactly when I first listened to Ghost Especially their earlier tracks from their first album, I just was chuckling or laughing cause of the absurdity. I wouldn't say I'm a Christian, as I don't go to church, and I haven't really read the bible(which I should.) But I do believe in God and all that is associated with that. And I just see this as a silly Band, trying to rile people up like back in the 70's and 80's. Especially if you see their character designs, and lore and music videos. Just edgy as all Hell. And I think that's all it is. Just a show. But to people who don't know, especially if they are pretty religious. I bet it would freak them right out. My Grandmother loves this band. My Mom is a bit iffy, my middle brother says it's alright, and my littlest brother likes a couple songs. I do think it is all a show, so don't take it to heart. Most certainly if you are religious like my family. Just don't take it to heart and know where you stand.
