Kick is taken on the same line the try was scored. Thus if you score the try under the goalposts, the try can be converted after with an easy kick in front of posts on same line try was scored. I hope that makes sense. Also, in NFL you guys call it 'cutting'. In rugby we call it a side-step.

In principle nfl running backs would make good wingers or full backs but they'd lack the stamina, nfl is such a stop start game with breaks between each play whereas rugby is more a full on 80 minute marathon with relatively few breaks. The greats like Payton, Brown, Tomlinson etc. would be awesome in any sport tbf tho. In the same way Lomu, Kolbe or Robinson would make the transition relatively easily too. Good reaction tho from a brit who likes both

Dig the vids man. Reason for scoring under the posts are to make the conversation kick easier. If you score under the post, you can stand in front of it and kick. The further away you score a try from the posts the harder the kick is going to be.

The thing is rugby players aren’t just athletes. The amount of skills (passing, offloading) and tackling techniques needs to be perfect. Ur reaction and decision making time has to be top notch. There was a study saying rugby 7s players are the best sport athletes in the world not only because they’re athletes. But their rugby/sport IQ is massive.

It's not more points to run closer to the goal posts, it just makes the kick closer to the post after the try has been scored. There is an invisible "V" like line behind and in front of the try line. So the closer the ball has been put down to the post the easier the kick for the extra 2 points. Try = 5 points, then a kick is given or a conversion for extra 2. a Penalty kick is 3 points.
@charliesadv8493
@charliesadv8493 3 года назад
The cap he wears is called a scrumcap, prevents injuries to the ear (cauliflower ears), and regarding the try closer to the posts, makes the conversion kick easier for the additional 2 points after the try. South Africa had another player named Bryan Habana, who, if he gets an open field, he wheels down the pitch

2:12 After a try the kicker gets to kick for an extra two points if they kick it between the posts, and the kick will be in the line that the try was scored. Kicking between the posts is easier, therefor scoring the try between the posts almost garentees an extra two points.
@jamesnicoll4356

To answer your question, you can get knocked over and get back up but if the tackler wraps his arms around you that’s a tackle and you have to stay down.
@Stewart682
@Stewart682 3 года назад
A try is not counted until the ball is touched down by the player while under his control. The conversion kick is taken from a point in line from where the ball is touched down. That's why they try to get it as close to the posts as possible before they touch it down.
@cgfnortje
@cgfnortje 2 года назад
When you get tackled, you have to leave the ball, get back up and pick up the ball again. So you basically have to show space between your hands and the ball, and then you can put them back on the ball again and continue. There is another video somewhere on RU-vid that shows how quickly Kolbe does it. He knows the game really well.

If a player is tackled they need to be held on the floor for it to count, if they aren't held they can get up and run again. When on the ground the player can make a second movement to place the ball so you will see players tackled then on the ground either turn their body to place the ball behind them or they will try move closer to the try and score.

Yes the ball carrier can immediately get up with the ball, but when he is on the ground he has to release the ball immediately. Previous comment explained why a player dots down the ball under the post, it makes an easier kick for the player that needs to convert the try. Try = 5 points and every try is followed up with a kick at post (goal) which counts 2 points.
@jash1281
@jash1281 3 года назад
Releasing the ball when on the ground is only mandatory if you're held. If not you can stand up and go on 😊

The reason why they run the ball to the centre and touchdown, it is just to make it easier for the kicker to convert the try to the goal. If he touchdown on side, the kicker will kick the convertion from the side and it will be really hard to the goal from the side.
@donepearce
@donepearce 3 года назад
Taking the ball into the centre for a touchdown. When the try is scored, the scoring team is awarded a "conversion". The ball is kicked from the field over the crossbar for extra points. The ball has to be placed for the kick in line with the point where it was touched down. So the closer to the centre the touchdown happens, the easier the conversion kick.

He puts it in the closer to the posts for an easier kick. If u put it in the corner, the kick will be from the side out line with obviously a sharp angle. Of u put it under the posts, the kick is easy from the center, straight infront of goal. So that's why he had a chance, so run closer to the center...

wherever the score the try behind the goals is in line with where the kicker will take the kick. So getting it nearer the centre man the kicker will kick more in line with the goal posts. If the try is made at the edge the the kick will take place from the edge of the field. You'll notice this in games when you see the try then the resulting kick straight afterwards. NFL the kick is always from straight in front of the goal no matter where the touchdown is scored in the end zone. duh...I see others have answered this already ...lol

If your not held in the tackle you can pop right back up but if your held you must release the ball and pick it back up to run again. If you get a penalty you get 3 points if you kick it over. If you score a try its 5 points. If you convert the try 2 points added that will give you 7 points...

NFL players, even elite players would have some trouble adjusting to rugby. Not with explosiveness, speed and power, but -- at the very least -- with the endurance needed. In order to create the endurance required, these elite athletes would need to cut down on mass/power. Something physical has to give, to allow them to remain on the field between 60 - 80 minutes.

Chessie would be useful as either a RB or WR in football, but he's only 5'7" tall, so RB would be way better. Bo Jackson, on the other hand, wouldn't survive ten minutes in a full blown Rugby Test match. He was amazing, I'll give you that, I saw him play both sports when I was studying in the States. But there are no commercial breaks in Rugby, no pads, no helmets (they're not needed because we know how to tackle,) he'd have to run and also tackle for two halves, almost non-stop for 40 minutes each half. As great as Jackson was, he'd not last ten minutes. No NFL player would make it. The fitness requirements are vastly different. NFL is about burst fitness, four downs, maybe 11 if you're lucky, then a commercial break. Then a whole other team goes on and plays defence while you drink Gatorade. Rugby players need a different fitness, must know how to tackle properly (see what the Seahawks pulled off with Rugby tackling) and also how to "lateral" at blinding speeds with a game plan in mind, the lateral being the great thing that NFL is still missing. Size and athletic ability aside, which are the same, they are not remotely the same kind of game. Never mind the abhorration of the forward pass in NFL! Haha! Still. cool vid, bud!
