On Mothers Day this was broken, now it's fixed. Enjoy this amazing machine room and motor sound! Note: This video was filmed with permission with a building worker. Please do not go into machine rooms without proper knowledge or without someone with proper knowledge.

When I rode it there was a frickin chair in the elevator! I told security that it used to have a couch and it was cool. I wonder if they will put a couch back in lol

@@QEElevators Idk lol they probably won't cause of weight Ig and it used to have carpet, also, the Motor is NEW and I was the first one to film this with this Motor back in 2019 and this thing Is low on oil again on this Dry Powered too like the submersible!!

The leak seems go be a pipeline in the pit; massive puddle of oil under it. The couch weights around 200-500 pounds and the capacity is 10,500 so I don't think that would be a issue if you had 30 200 pound adults it would only be 6,000 pounds of the full capacity and I don't know if you could fit more people. Definitely doesn’t seem like a issue. Kone hates refilling it because they have to use special pumps because there is only a 5 inch gap between the top of the tank and the ceiling so you can’t just dump the oil into it.

This is really weird. I’ve never seen HVAC systems in an elevator machine room.

(Update: told building manager to tell Kone to refill it and now it has been healthy every time I've came here after that!) Is anyone else disappointed with Kone? They came here three days ago to fix it, and they didn't refill it... It hasn't been refilled in months, and kone has come here 3-4 times within that time. Maybe they don't want to because you only get 4 inches of space between the top of the power unit and the ceiling. That is why it was submersible.

@TheTheo58 2 года назад
As this machine is massive in size, and as mentioned only 4 inches of space between the top of the housing and ceiling. Making it very difficult to fill up the tank Since the original power unit was submersible, it sounds like in planning for the new dry power unit it was not taken into account of either cutting a recess in the ceiling. Or having an access point on the floor above with a length of piping to fill the tank.
@QEElevators
@QEElevators 2 года назад
@@TheTheo58 The floor above is a pool deck
@TheTheo58
@TheTheo58 2 года назад
@@QEElevators Well that will not work as to making an access point. There have to be other MEI dry power units with this issue filling up the tank. Yrs ago I worked in a photo lab used a pump and connecting hoses to transfer newly mixed chemicals from the mixing tank to the overhead storage tanks. Perhaps the elevator techs need to look into something similar. Keep up the good work :)

@@TheTheo58 This hotel wasn't built with the intent of this elevator. The hotel was built around 30-40 years ago and this elevator got added in 2006 I believe. Kone needs to come up with a good way of refilling this thing.
@TheTheo58
@TheTheo58 2 года назад
@@QEElevators Yes, Kone does need to devise a way to fill the tank. Might have been better to locate the machine further away not beneath the pool.

Glad you got a take on this I wonder what it would’ve sounded like submersible
@QEElevators
@QEElevators 2 года назад
They got submersible because of the central long height. In this video you see how little took is between the power unit top and the ceiling. Only thing is you can't access motor and pump on submersible without draining the oil and it's super messy too. They should've designed this machine room with MEI in mind.

There is an original 9 story scenic 1970s U.S. Hydraulic Elevator at the Town and Country Resort in San Diego, CA. While this elevator is a roped hydraulic, the one at the Town and Country is an inground hydraulic, while I have never seen it in person, it seems to run well and it has an amazing motor.

@SG118P 2 года назад
Make sense because is rope hydraulic
@QEElevators
@QEElevators 2 года назад
That's not why. It has a 10,000-pound capacity and is 12 floors, so it needs to have a high GPM and around 2 100 horsepower motors. At least, I think. There are two 12-inch hydraulic cylinders, so it uses a ton of oil, about 400 gallons of it. The leak is within the pit based on the massive puddle of oil under the pipelines in it.
@QEElevators
@QEElevators 2 года назад
This does have 2 motors. 2 around 100hp motors, 2 imo pumps, and 2 Maxton valves. This is MEI’s biggest power unit according to their website. The only bigger is ITI, which you can have up to 800gpm and this power unit is 400gpm. The ITI power units can also have 4x as much oil too.
