I was standing directly under the flight path following takeoffs, and watched both F-18's and F-35's taking off. Both are loud, but the 35's require ear protection or plugging your ears as they shake the entire ground beneath them. Sounds of Freedom!! 👍

I can relate, i was at the Abbotsford International Airshow in British Columbia Canada in 2017 and they had an F-35A, CF-18 legacy hornet, Super Hornets, and a De Havilland Vampire. Aside from the vampire any hornet variant is loud (as well as an F-16 ) no doubt, but when it comes to the F-35, it shook the Tarmac at show center and was the only jet my ears needed ear plugs for. Its about as ear splitting as a B1B lancer.

I am a ground crew at an airport in the PNW and the Air National Guard in my area recently got a few. I thought the F18 were shit scary, the F35 is like if the TIE Fighter came from the Doom series of games.

I’ve seen them take off without after burner and that’s still really loud.. but this is next level loud

I live directly in line with an air force base that flies f35s multiple times a day, every day. I'm used to them, but they can cause shaking of things and you can feel the vibration in your soul when the afterburners are turned on. Love them though!

This video does not come close to capturing the sound of the F-35. I've seen it up close and you can feel the sound vibrate through your body.

I know. I live very close to a Naval base where Lockheed assembles them. I see, hear and feel these jets every day. It's awesome.

+TheKenji2221 you think afterburner is supposed to be quiet? Have you ever heard this thing in its stealth configuration? You will only here it around 800 feet or less
