As a F2P player and returning to MTG Arena after a long time I only had cheap decks to play standard, a mono red and a mono blue. I was looking for a new cheap deck to have more playing options and I absolutely loved this deck. I've started following your channel recently and already love your content, the way you play and explain the decks are great. Cheers from Brazil
For anyone checking this deck out, it’s not mentioned during the profile but infectious bite used off of a death touch creature will actually trigger the death touch so you can use your one drop and bite to get rid of really sketchy things you can’t hit with your other removal. I’ve hit a few sheoldred with it because it can be a pain to get rid of otherwise with this list unless they leave it up on its own. There’s also a green one drop instant you can use in place of the stand that instead of having the X mana option gives you life which can help against aggro on the ladder.
Picked up MTG again after a decade+ hiatus and have always been a huge novice. After trying an Artisan Mono Red Burn deck, I wasn't really enjoying the playstyle.. This Golgari Toxic build got me from Bronze to Gold in Standard!! My goal was to hit Gold with just a budget deck and this fit that bill perfectly! Currently sitting at a 60% win rate with it. Just wanted to say thanks for sharing and I'm having wayyyyy more fun with this than I did with Mono Red
TOTALLY AWESOME! I was just short on uncommon tokens to build the deck, so I had a look what rare had ro offer, since I had 5 rare build tokens... and what cameup? Venerated Rotpriest! Totally overpowed in this deck after I added 4. It makes many spells create that extra poison counter (like infectious bite making V Rotpriest trigger. I kicked out the 4 cost cards, making it even faster. And still debating over Cut Down versus Whisper of the Dross (can even be cast on that Rotpriest for 2 or more poison counters (>2 if multiple Rotpriest in play). Thanks for this awesome build!!! Edit: games tend to get longer when I play better decks a bit higher up in the ranking and decided to put the Necrogen Rotpriest back in.
I just started playing MTG Arena a couple of weeks ago. Like it so much I will start playing table top commander in September. I watched this vid and as soon as I could I built this deck. It's the first one I built. The 80% win rate is pretty spot on. I went from Bronze to Silver in one day in the Standard Ranking. Thank you for making these vids. I will be building other decks you recommend.
This is insane. I just started the game a few weeks ago. Uninstalled because I got fed up with losing all the time, installed again yesterday. Tried this deck in ranked yesterday and I got from Spark to Gold in a day.
I've only recently got back in MTG. I played from 1993 to 2005. I love your deck; super simple for people who don't have a lot of rare or mythic cards. The only modification I made was to replace Go For the Throat with Heroes Downfall as Heroes takes out Plainswalkers and cards with Indestructible.

I love this video. I'm relatively new to magic but I'm a huge fan of the novels and the lore and the Phyrexians are so cool.. I just started playing commander this summer and arena last week. I just got through my spark rank challenge with an incubate build and will be going toxic if I can collect enough of the cards. I look forward to binging on your videos. Cheers
Played this Deck now for some time. I made here and there some changes but i cant transform it into a real banger. Brought me to Diamond 2-3 but cant get it into mythic. Still i like it alot.
Nice! I've actually been playing a golgari poison/proliferate deck a lot lately, so fun! I might switch out my ichorspit basilisk for that stalker. Anyone with a couple copies of Vraska should also consider adding her to this deck for late game fun 👍

First of all thanks for the awesome deck idea! Which cards would you swap out for your sideboard? Sorry if this question seem rather silly, but im fairly new to the game.
That's a nice win condition for sure. Careful using 60 card decks against mill users. You'll need bath song or something that will help you cleanse your graveyard back to your hand but I'd suggest blue green for starters so you can some counter play.
So, 12 games later, I went 2nd 100% of the time. Is that just something in Arena (because that is obviously not normal) ? The deck performed well, but never going first definitely hurts. Its main weakness from what I can see is Azorius or Dimir. Nothing else really slowed it down, aside from all forests and black cards.
I always like decks like these. Actual craftable decks. Other videos are like oh check this 30 wildcard deck you'll need to craft. Oh and it uses 32 rares so you can't play it.
Very nice deck , i have most of the toxic rares as i am a toxo player but its always a good idea to rewind and look the deck in its basic non rare/mythic version , you can always find new ideas how to play a deck.

I started playing MTG yesterday, Ive completed the colour challenge and Ive played some of the decks in the starter deck duel. How do I go about getting this deck? I cant seem to find the cards
What's crazy about this deck is that most cards are uncommon and not even one card is rare or mythic (including lands!). You can easily craft this in MTGA.

I have a similar deck to this, but I focus a bit more on using spells combined with the rotpriest to do inflict poison counters without even having to attack! For example, with a rotpriest + 2 creatures out you can e.g. storm the seedcore to add 3 poison counters and then attack if you wish. I hate toxic. I'd rather play against mono red and get stomped than to get slowly poisoned to death. Where's the antidote spells that let you remove poison counters?
