Nice workaround, but I still think Google needs to put a lot more work into the new Sites, because honestly, the way it looks now, I don't want to use it for a professional website.

I agree that there are still many functions that need to be added and I'm convinced Google is already hard at work on these. I have been playing around a lot now in the New Sites and must say once the functionality expands I think it will be a very powerful platform indeed!

I saw your Disqus video before this and they are both great! This workaround that you suggested is great for those who do not want to create a Disqus account and great for showcasing the GSuite apps like Forms and Sheets. Simple but it works!

For now I would use google Slides as it is the most straight forward way. I'm sure in the future more functionality will be made available.

Yes you would have to make sure that is is View-able to anyone with the link.

The issue I have found with this is that although you may sort the Timestamp column to show most recent, when a new comment is made it is always added to the bottom of the column regardles, then when displayed it's not at the top. If I return to the sheet and set the sort again, it works Am I missing something?

Great vid, super helpful! Quick question though, if a comment is 4 sentences long how am I able to have the comment section show the full comment instead of it being cut off? Is that possible?

You can set the text setting to wrapping within Google Sheets. However for more advanced forms of Comment sections I would have a look at this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gkB0yivanZA.html where I walk you through setting up Disqus to embed onto your Google Sites.

To clarify, you sort data "A-Z" to list most recent responses from the top?

Depending on how you want the data represented, yes, you can select a-z or z-a to fit your needs. As the date format will imoact how its sorted you would have to make sure its year/month/day

Very nice, but the result looks so poor and limited in comparison to what you can get effortlessly on other platforms. There is no way to reply to comments, no way for the commentators to know if somebody has replied. I've been trying to add Disqus comments to a google site but no luck. Shadow comments don't work anymore either. It looks as if Google has put a special effort into sabotaging any chance for effective commenting from people who cannot edit the site. I'm tempted to move my site elsewhere and I will do this if I cannot find a way to add the fully functional comments in the nearest future.

+Irena Pasvinter I agree that at this stage in the development the functionality is still very limiting. The aim of Google seems to have an easy to use platform with a focus on simplicity at thia stage. On the roadmap many more updates are planned but we can only guess at this point in time when these will become available. Until then the classic Google sites remains and I personally use the Blogger platform with custom html for my own website. I completely understand where you are coming from. However, in itself, looking at the new Google sites without so paring it to the old or other programs I still have to say I love how easy it is to create simple yet professional websites. Thank you so much for contributing to this discussion! I would love to hear more about your experiences with other platforms as well!

Is it possible to make a reply system? Not email notifications (the people I am using my site with do not have emails) but replies within the site. Pretty much how the reply/notification system works here on RU-vid.

+andersberndog it all depends on how you set up you form. But you could allow for comment to be submitted anonymously. However replying to each others comment is not possible. As of the time of writing this, there is no official commenting system available for the new sites. This workaround is the closest until comment become available.

Oh alright. Thanks. Anything they are planning on adding anything like that? I find the new sites lacking in the basic things I need in my websites. Oh also is it possible to only allow sertant names? For example, if the only names that worked were Cow and Pig, and someone used the name Fox it would alert them? I've been fiddling around trying to figure that out but with no luck.

+andersberndog you can set up your forms and sheets to only except a set list of names. Or you could use a multiple choice tick for name. In terms of adding features. If they continue to plan on removing the old sites then inevitably they will transfer and add features to the new one first!

+Ricardo Perez search is available by default at the top of your new Google sites. This has been a new feature rolled out some time ago.

This is just ugly, and the reason behind this ugliness is Google's reluctance to implement commenting functionality. For classic google sites, we at least can use DISCUS (see sites.google.com/site/aboutmale/techblog/visibleimmediately as an example and github.com/stIncMale/google-sites-disqus for details on how to do this). But with new sites, we can only use spreadsheets? No, thank you, Google, GTFO until you make "new sites" usable (I believe that commenting functionality is extremely important).
