#apartmenttour #microapartment #nycapartment Today we tour tour one of the smallest apartments in NYC. Alaina lives in Hells Kitchen in an 80 square foot apartment. Alaina: IG @alainarandazzzo / @alainarandazzo
I love that she's had the dog since a puppy. He's probably sad that he can no longer sleep in the loft with her. How do you even find a space like that? No windows, the ceiling is about to collapse, steep stairs to get to the "loft", shared bathroom. Seems like a fire hazzard. Is it legal? How was it advertised? I'd like to see a video on the entire building. Are all the units like that? How many units per floor? How many floors? Are they all single dwellings? Are there other pets in the building? How does heat and A/C happen? If everyone has a 9-5 job, how does bathroom sharing in the morning work? How long does the place smell like food after cooking? *I have so many questions* about this one!!!
There are new rules in the UK on rental roomsizes which Landlords are resolutely ignoring. I've looked at a fair few 'cupboards' where you can touch the kitchen sink from the bed.🙄 I lucked out during Covid as no one was was even thinking of moving & I got my huge attic studio. I was the only applicant 😁
My thought as well. I don’t know any North American jurisdiction where something like this is legal. I live in a small space (325sq ft) in Toronto but I couldn’t live in this. Looks like a firetrap.
I get what she’s saying about saving money, travelling a lot and caring for her dog but I’m too claustrophobic for this space but props to her for organizing this space
@Alaina Randazzo he's loved, looks so relaxed and happy. I'm sure he goes for walks and by the time he's home he's tired. I live in a small condo and have 2 dogs. They're perfectly happy.
Nor a human but u see she makes it work which is wonderful ❤but it’s better then it being in a dam kennel at least it has a home! A lot of dogs or humans don’t.
I'm sorry but the landlord is Simply Greedy and not considerate of humankind. I take nothing away from the young lady as a matter of facts Kudos to her for making it her own and making it work!
I can’t deal with the fact that people start to normalizing this type of living . That’s why prices keep going up . We don’t need to accept s*t like this as normal . A person should have a right to live comfortable in the city she works , specially working like a slave as we do in this country . Sad , sad to see this 🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
I love watching a show called Never Too Small, how they make small living so functional outside of the United States is admirable and so sustainable, it sad that this country doesnt invest more in quality small space living.
@@adlcnyc I am So into the tiny house movement because it purpose most of the time is people seeking to leave a more meaningful and sustainable life instead of focus only on material things . What I do not agree with it is : be leaving in “ the best country of the world “ and not be able to afford a reasonable way of leaving because of the greed of some . My only thought is : if the minority would be able to agree between each other they would understand that in fact they are the majority and it self could change a lot of s* t
@@palomadamasceno307 i agree! Definitely, check out the channel never too small, the spaces and the quality are amazing, way better than what we saw in this video. NY apartments are terrible, i live in NYC, its horrible how little you get for sooo much money, and terrible landlords
That exactly what I was thinking. It’s like people are trying to normalize living like this. Close living quarters is asking for a trouble especially with things like Covid.
I’m all for tiny spaces… I love them… but this space makes me feel claustrophobic just looking at it. There’s no escape point like a window… I’d be too scared to live there.
Listen I love small spaces, and seeing people get creative with how they use it, but this is just horrible. Clearly she makes the most of it, but how is it even legal to rent something thats 80sqft with no bathroom and no window?? In europe anything under 100sqft is considered a closet and illegal to rent, even as a ROOM and you must have a window.
to be clear, I'm not blaming her for living there, I 100% get that she'd rather spend her money elsewhere, but I can't believe the nerve to put this up for rent as an apartment
It’s not legal. New York has the same safety requirements as other first world cities. I’m surprised so many RU-vid channels are featuring a clearly illegal “apartment.”
Without a window this feels claustrophobic. I think the open shelves makes it look disorganized and cluttered. I watch a lot of tiny spaces YT channels and one thing they do is to have small furniture (with doors)that are the same color palette. Not only looks cohesive, but it also makes it look larger. Light colors like white or cream are best.
I am IMPRESSED that she took a closet and turned it into an apt. It mimics the Van life without wheels.. When you are young this will work... Your eyes don't have time to rest.....🤓🙄 The dog is probably requesting more space through his barking..
The apartment is cute but could be prettier. Bathroom and skylight are a plus and of course the rent is cheap for NY Thank You for showing us your apartment.
6:45 many people don´t really understand tiny spaces...? I don´t want to understand and I don´t have to, because I am not into animal abuse. This is just ignominious...
I wonder how many times she's awaken in the middle of the night and bumped her head on the ceiling from her bed. I would probably have a concussion trying to live somewhere like that.... LOL ...but kudos to her.!
I could totally make that place work... For 650 a month in NYC... It's actually a good deal... Yeah be a lil clostophopic. But some good wall art and lighting.... And being creative with a pull out couch bed or something.
Yeah, not really an apartment. If you cannot shower or poo in your own home then… yeah, no. It also feels like a fire hazard. That poor pup deserves more space too. All that being said I do think this little hole could be turned into something cute but this renter just hasn’t figured it out. Messy.
Wow 😮 My house payment is $650.00 for a 3,000 thousand square feet house 🏡. In Washington state, my house has 5 bathroom’s and a 500 square foot garage.
A lot of these tiny space renters get not so kind comments, but I'm here to say "If you're happy, I'm happy". I'm from the South, but it appears that New York and it's residence are a total vibe and I'm digging it 100 percent.
Well, that's the problem. People pay lots of money for what's basically a storage closet and say, "it's a vibe" or "that's just New York!" Living in squalor shouldn't be glamorized, it benefits no one but the rich slumlords.
@@alittlebitofjessica Not sure why you say "that's the problem" but you have a right to your opinion. If New Yorkers had a problem with it, I'm sure they would leave and move here to the South were you do get more for your money, but who are we to judge. I would love to live in less than 500 square feet (in the South). We all need to minimize our carbon footprint if we are are going to survive. "Squalor" really? We have been conditioned to believe we need way more space, food & material possessions than we really need. You may realize this someday but if you don't that's okay too. Just let others live as they choose.
Living in a small, confined living space will force u to save money because u won't have the space to fill with store bought goods. It be like moving out of a studio into a single family home, then you'll see how fast it is to spend
If the gov't built affordable housing this small renters would be protesting in the streets. Animals in the zoo get more space than this. And the poor dog must be totally totally depressed. Where I live I believe 325 sq ft is the minimum legally.
She did so good with this apartment. She has artistic, fashion and cozy all mixed in such a tiny space. Skylight is such a bonus. Amazing space in NY I love it. The dog is super cute ❤️
I will congratulate her, for me that I have been homeless I wish I would have had this tiny space ... So I'm happy for her, she totally does it and is happy
