Back when Burger King was still pouring Pepsi from the fountain.
They switched over to Coke in 1990 (thx‪@flutebasket4294‬for that fun fact).
Gotta love Orange SLICE (your camera is probably blocking it) seen in the video. That had such a unique tangy weird zap!
The tie-in toy in this video is for the now forgotten Purr-tenders:

i'm also 44. BK was my favorite place to go with my Sis and Mom after Church /Sunday School class every weekend. the one I went to was very much like the one in this video, also the patrons were nice, quiet and stayed out of your way. There was a level of respect regarding cleanliness too. More than today without question, i agree with you. I still love the OG Chicken sandwich because of that location from the 1980s, it's basically the same sandwich which is great. Unfortunately they leveled it and a car dealership owns the lot now. Sort of a shame however there are 2 other BK's within 3 miles of there lol

It sounds like you didn't live through the '80s. Civility was considered to be declining greatly in that decade. Movie theaters had to start running announcements telling people you were not supposed to talk during the movie, a fact in previous decades people had instinctively understood. In my city, some students from a private high school had a food fight in a McDonald's, resulting in them, being banned from the restaurant. Just adding some info about the real 1980s.

It was literally the biggest fish sandwich I’ve seen in chain restaurants and tasted fantastic! My friends and I would walk the 10 minute trek to BK as teens to get a Big Fish at least twice a week. Regardless, my joint would have plants all over. In Flint, MI, there was a place called Country Kettle that had a large fountain in the lobby entrance with lots of plants. I loved it and the fresh smell of volatile organic compounds it provided. I get the same satisfaction from the fresh produce isle at supermarkets, especially when the misters are active. There are so many take aways from this video. I was just talking with a friend about how much simpler life was in the 80's and to some extent, the 90's. People were calmer, there was pride in their work, and to see how little food was in the pass at any given moment was actually a really good thing. Product moved faster, not nearly sitting around as long, made to order. I really do miss these times.
@Smile936

The fact that they seem to actually move slower in the video gets me. Like, it’s not my imagination right? People these days are under so much pressure to keep up with demand in an understaffed workplace.

Stop glorifying it because it's vintage footage. You seem ready to worship and defend burger king and the "good ol days" whether they use poop hands to prepare your food or not. Hands that were used to itch an ass are worse than gloves that were used to prepare a few meals.

My ghetto town has two burger kings. One is abandoned and derelict. The other might have at any given time a "manager" with meth mouth and piercings and one guy in the back making the food. And one of the entrances is boarded up with plywood as if they're expecting a hurricane and they spray painted "We're open" on the plywood.

Even though this is a large chain fast food restaurant, you still get the sense that things were not so unbelievably corporate like they are today. It's almost unthinkable these days to simply imagine a welcoming wooden style with a clock and plants. Simple things, simple normal things. These days It's all become this neutered, lifeless clean plastic everywhere you go. It was just... more human.
@Earth1218
@Earth1218 10 месяцев назад
Truth. Then, they actually went for a warm, welcoming vibe. Today they’re all so sterile. I get that styles and building standards change over time. But there does seem to be an element of “grab your food and get the hell out” in today’s fast food design.
