Incredible personal style starts with your THOUGHTS. Having thoughts that support the results you want to create with your style makes all the difference. A single limiting belief can prevent you from having (and wearing) a wardrobe you adore!
I always love reading your comments and really try to reply to every single one. Thanks for your patience with my response time. 💕
xx Kristen

When I began my style journey 4 years ago I painted the inside of my (built in) wardrobe primrose yellow, implemented all white, velvet hangers and created a mood board on the inside of one door of fashion images taken from magazines. Very old school I know but I like I can see it every I open the door and can change the pictures seasonally. I only have clothes out for the current season, about 45 not including coats, jackets and hobby clothes. Everything is arranged by category, by colours of the rainbow and then black. I have come to appreciate it is a work in progress, changing as I change, but love that it represents who I am now. It is one of my favourite spaces in my house.

I love this so much!! 💛 And I always prefer an old-school paper collage of pictures for inspiration!!

I recently took the time to listen to a RU-vid video on how to use my iron that I’ve owned for years. I love using steam but I never realized that when you iron silks and other delicate fabrics if you don’t turn off the steam feature the iron will drip. Steam is only to be used for cottons and linens. I was also failing to shut off the steam feature when I used the auto clean feature. Honestly it’s worth taking the time to read the instructions even though we all think we know how to iron.

I love that!! Seems I never learned to not use water in the iron at all and instead rely on a spray bottle. Great tip for cleaning it. Thanks!!

As a quilter I iron all the time but I never put water in my iron instead I use a spray bottle with distilled water. This keeps my irons from ever getting gunk. It's just a cheap dollar store spray bottle but I've haven't had to replace one my iron for years.

I can learn a lot from quilters!! I've received this tip a few times now. I'm on it!! No more water in the iron for me. Thank you!

Early in my closet declutter & working through what I don't wear for various reasons. Your closet would be a dream to me. Slowly does it for me as coming up for retirement & don't want to waste money or buy things I won't use. I'm finding my smaller collection works well. If I put something on & it doesn't look good, my mantra is ...."what makes me think it will look any better nxt time😂"

I appreciate your focus on the psychology of dressing but am also hoping you would be willing to share your outfit details. I love the cream v-neck sweater and green pants!

Hi Nancy- Thanks for your comment and compliment. I rarely wear outfits that don't contain an element of blue... so this one felt a bit different for me, and I liked it! I do sometimes share outfit ideas here and on Instagram. Most of my 'outfit' work is done with clients as I'm not an influencer but more of a coach/teacher for women wanting to learn how to identify what holds them back when getting dressed. That said, I do have a couple outfit videos coming this summer! I hope you enjoy them.

So glad to have found you! I too keep a bin of “clearty” clothes to wear on repeat a few times around the house… just makes sense.

My closet is an overstuffed mess…and that is after many declutters! I tend to collect clothing. I am a hopeless case!

Nice closet! I put my smaller handbags in my pretty large tote. You could put yours in that striped basket on your top shelf. I think it's sweet you keep those special shoes...how romantic.

I’m a work in progress as far as my style and pairing down my closet. I’ve used the thin felt hangers for years, and you have inspired me to eventually switch to the wood hangers for accountability. What a great idea! I still have quite a bit of purging to do before I make that change, but now I have that in my plans! Enjoying the content, thank you!!

Wow Kristen I am inspired to pare down more after watching. My closet is not tiny but it's smaller than what I had in the old house. This house is a 1927 Tudor and I immediately knew it was "the one" after my youngest left for college many states away. The move was all encompassing and I got rid of massive amounts of everything and I have nothing in storage!!! Huge yay! I do have far more handbags than I need, mostly all are MZ Wallace and yet I love having options to work with anything I'm wearing. I admire your minimalist collection though.

First time viewer and enjoyed this. Stealing your bin under bed idea for rewearing outfits - genius! I have a lingerie chest in my very modest closet and love how that works. Now to explore your other content.

I've just found yr channel and not sure why you change houses so often. It would be a nightmare to pack, repack, and keep going?
@KristenCainStyle

Welcome! You may have seen my previous videos explaining the 'why' of the last year and all the houses. In short, we moved from Colorado to Utah and spent 9 months in Airbnbs (3 total). We didn't have our belongings arrive until we moved into the house we're in now. It's been quite an adventure and not at all what we could have imagined prior to doing it! Hope you enjoy my channel.

Thank you! They are old Pilcro from when I worked at Anthropologie. Probably purchased in 2020. I have them in dark grey and in blue denim. Might be worth a look on Poshmark.

I note that you do not have a window air conditioner sitting on the floor for 7 months of the year nor do you have a huge plastic bin which contains your briefcase with all of your important papers, sentimental jewellery and 8 full hard drives of family photos. While I do organize hanging items by color as you do, I have dress shoes up on the shelves in clear boxes, a multitude of handbags and an infamous metal clutch bag collection up out of the way. I am sure that it's just the yoga mat which makes all of the difference between your closet and mine.
@KristenCainStyle
@KristenCainStyle 2 месяца назад
Love this! ;-) I've had closets just like that myself. I've learned that my nervous system and mindset like it better when my closet doesn't contain much 'non-getting dressed' stuff. I certainly understand space considerations and sometimes the hard drives need to live with the shoes. Thanks for your comment.
