Amazing how it has been empty for 6 years but looks like it was only abandoned yesterday. I think in most other parts of the World, my home of the UK included, this would have been stripped for parts and laid bare within 24 hours of the lights going out. Very cool video Norm.

Highly depends on the specific regions. I know plenty of abandoned houses in my (larger) area and they're perfectly fine. Those who look like they're abandoned for decades do so because they are. This is not about Japan vs the rest of the world (what a shallow mindset that would be anyway), this is about context. Btw: By FAR not all abandoned buildings look as neat as that, not even in Japan. ;)

I have to say, I'm still a bit nervous about you entering the building alone. If there were structural problems, you could get into trouble fairly quickly. It's always good to have an "exploring buddy" just in case. That being said, I really enjoy this unusual content. It's fascinating to see how much stuff was just left when the hotel closed. It does look like there hasn't been too much vandalism (yet!) I find it a bit depressing when everything is plastered with graffiti, and anything remotely breakable is smashed. A really interesting video. Thank you for taking the time to go back and explore again.

When you went into the office you mentioned being excited about something and you probably unconsciously swung the camera just far enough that I got a glimpse of the tubes and I got excited and knew that had to be it. Sitting in my bedroom at 11 pm I exclaimed aloud, "Vacuum tubes?! Sweet!" 😁 Then I felt like a nerd, but that's ok...also every time I see Christmas decorations I invisibly check it on my mental "urbex bingo" lol! The only thing I have ever taken was with permission from the cabin of a long passed family member. It's a pot trivet that says, "The hurrier I go the behinder I get," and it stays with my jewelry bench. It will find use there again some day but in college it was just a message I needed.

Yeah. The spin dryer only removes most of the water; my college gym and my local YMCA both have them for drying swimwear. The greenhouse would be nice and warm but the slide open side panes would give enough airflow to quickly dry things like towels, pillowcases, and sheets/futon covers.

I definitely like to explore abandoned places where I live but Japan seems to be nice about leaving everything in its place... it make is to much more interesting. 23:27 It doesn't look like the telescope has been stripped of parts, in fact, I'd say it's totally usable! That's a reflector telescope, which uses small mirrors instead of lenses to enlarge an image. The spotting scope and eyepiece still appear to be attached, too. If anyone was going to strip something from it they'd take the equatorial mount, which is probably worth at least $150.

The rooftop greenhouse was potentially used for year round fresh fruit and vegetables for their customers? Cheaper than buying them and they keep fresh for longer, I imagine not enough people staying at a love hotel would order food with fruit or veggies in it to justify keeping a stocked fridge, but maybe enough would order it to keep a stocked greenhouse. Also, some of those hotel rooms are in better condition than motel/hotel rooms I've stayed in that weren't abandoned.
