Fascinating insight into the building of locks. Thanks to the CWT for keeping this infrasrtructure in top working condition. Cheers Ant for taking us down into the green and slimy!!!

I’ve taken boats through the staircase locks many times….it’s always filled me with awe when I’ve been steering, and confused the hell out of me if I’ve been given the task of operating the locks! Fantastic marvel of the waterways. Interesting to see it dewatered. Thanks

Same, while modern concrete and steel locks like at the various shipping canals around the world are amazing pieces of engineering that reach immense, even epic proportions the old stone, brick and wooden ones are beautiful.

That was fascinating great insight into the workings of the structure. Looking up from the bottom of the canal, and seeing how steep the sides are, I now know how Theo felt the day he jumped into the canal lock and I had to climb down and fish him out!!

Very cool place, and a great idea to cultivate interest in the canal system. Even someone like myself on the other side of the ocean can enjoy it thanks to you. So, thanks!

Another finely produced video as always Ant 👍. Interesting to see behind the scenes of a canal lock. I do love the colour of the preserved wood of the gates, and the beautiful patterns in the brickwork 🧱. GWR

I know that area very well - I used to live about half an hour's walk away. I've never seen it looking like that, however! I take it the museum's steam engine wasn't going or you'd have filmed it.

Bedford st locks used to leak like a sieve 16 years ago. It would take a long time to lock up, it was always a bit of a job to manage the water levels I hope You took advantage of Oatcakes and cheese (Something not to be missed when in stoke)
