Stunning. I can vouch for the sheer beauty and serenity of these special forests as I'm not far from Llanerch in Wales and have spent very precious time there. There's not enough of our rainforests left now, and we have to cherish that which still remains. ❤
Great video. Many people (rightfully) lament the loss of rainforests across the globe but don’t realise that we have our very own rainforests here which are fragmented and under great threat. What a sight it must have once been in its full glory.
My sister once had a farm in West Wales. It was wet, so very wet, and along the river valley there clung a remnant of this rainforest. It was beautiful. The farmers either side wanted it knocked down as their sheep kept escaping their fencing and would end up in this forested rocky valley were they'd be hurt or worse. The sheep farming only exists in that area with the help of subsidies I believe. I'm not sure if this forest remnant still exists. I suspect not, remembering the hatred for it from the sheep farmers. As much as I dislike the idea of putting a price on nature, if giving farmers money for keeping these areas untouched, then I believe that may help out some of these last remaining forests. They subsidise sheep farming, why not woodland?
We have far too many sheep in Wales anyway, I would much prefer to see some of the subsidies go toward restoring the landscape that overgrazing has destroyed.
Dam bro the uk isn’t that small you know, it’s 1200 miles if you walked from one end to the other and would take 3 months. It’s over 19 thousand miles if you walk around the whole island and would take 2 years or more
@@UpinsmokeXVIAusewell Woods look massive in the video, but Google Earth reveals it's like 3km (2 miles) long. So even if I was in the middle of the forest, I'm less than a mile away from being out of it. Not a "forest" by definition here in Australia. Cranbourne Botanical Garden (which is not too far from me) is about the same size, man made, and far from anything I would consider to be the size of a "forest "
It's sad to hear repeated mention of the ol' climate change scapegoat when it's this country running out of space due to an accelerated increase in population which is the main pressure on the conservation of natural habitats. I'd love to see ancient woodlands increasing in size but just maintaining coverage at present levels is hard enough.
