Thoroughly enjoyed the lecture on Schubert's Quintet in C Major. Don't be fooled by the key. Some of his most passionate, deeply felt music. Another insightful lecture and I'm looking forward to the piano trio by Ravel (my favorite composer!).

It will be great if Schubert's last string quartet could be introduced and analyzed in this wonderful series of lectures!

I have heard the quartet lots of times, but the song only now. In the maiden's part are motivic links to the kid's part in Erlkönig. Of course both characters are struggling against different personifications of the grim reaper.

Maestro, I like your presentations, there is a lot to discover ! Just one little thing, around the min. 48-49 you said that Brahms and Schumann were influenced by Schubert and that's right, but I think Schumann was not influenced by Brahms....it is vice-versa, isn't it ? Brahms came to Leipzig when he was around 20 years old to play for Schumann, so maybe you just mixed those information...anyway, is not a big deal but you are pretty precise when you say things and your humor is lovely, chapeau bas !

I think that Schubert would not have been averse to unintentionally quoting Beethoven in Die Forelle if the Beethoven work he was quoting were more à propos than the Coriolanus Overture.
