Jakaila I agree. So many people with the financial means to have a nice expensive home have them decorated tastefully, but the home doesn't have an inviting feel to them. The fact that she makes the point that she lets family and friends stay there even when she's away proves she wants her guests to feel welcome and make yourself at home. A real home is to be used and not just a showplace to say look at what I have.

I remember seeing Moby on MTV Cribs years ago and he made a point of showing off his bookshelf, because he said no one else on the show ever seemed to have books. Not a huge fan of Moby but he was right - once in a while you see a bunch of Chanel coffee table books, but most of the time these houses have 10x more shoes than books.

Her literary yearnings lean heavily towards coffee table books and a collection of vapid non-fiction published in the last five years.

The size of the lot and the location I think have the most to do with the price, rich people don't think anything of knocking down a nice house just to build one they like better if the location is good, tiger woods ex wife bought a 10 million dollar house, then knocked it down and built one she liked better.

The are able to tell you the artist, where and when it was made, the inspiration and any other typical information their broker tell's them when selling it, but very few really understand the art movement, the history, influence or the philosophical proposal. And when listening those people talk about their art it's obvious they are pretending to really know art, when they just saw a cool, expensive piece of art and bought it (nothing wrong with that, just don't pretend to "know" art).

@@eugeniocampos1732 On one hand I agree with you. Many people, celebrities in this case, pretend to know. However, artistic literacy is just like normal literacy. You don't need to know the background of an author and the historical events/movements surrounding the book to get an accurate message out of it. The same goes for any art. I see many people who get a genuinely solid message from their art just based on whats presented and being called pretentious, which is obnoxious. Of course, having a deeper understanding will always add, but being in the middle doesn't make someone pretentious (not saying you said that). Also, in this specific case I feel its even worse than being pretentious. Chelsea has made a career being so-called "woke" and talking about social issues, issues which frustrate her and result from general public ignorance. Yet, she doesn't bother to know about the art on her walls. If she cant bother to do that, then I surely doubt she reads the plaques in museums she visits (just like many people do). If she read those plaques she would know that many, many artists have been talking about the very same issues for decades, but are ignored because people like her don't bother to look deeper. A bit ironic I think.

@@SuWoopSparrow I agree that not everyone has to be an ""expert"" to understand their art, and good point with the plaques in museums, but what I was trying to say is that the people I referred to on my last message mistakenly think that the ECONOMIC act of buying a piece of art gives them certain validity as of knowledge. It's not so much of them not knowing everything related, but more of them feeling that the fact they own a pice of art makes them knowledgeable. Don't get me wrong though, many people I know are like that and I don't actually care, I just think it says something about her not doing what most do.
