Wow, I haven't seen this in years. I actually produced and directed the whole thing! Had a nice week in Rockford, Illinois, checked out a Cubs game, even a Rockford River Hawks baseball game. The folks at Travel channel loved it and it did pretty well in the ratings. The Schutte's were a blast. I came back a year later and shot a tv pilot with them at a derby maybe in Janesville?
No way dude are you for real? Lol you killed it and shoutout to the editor! Thanks for your work, docs like this that I watched when I was little influenced my career path!
@@CodyJWerther Your welcome! Yeah, we really thought we had something with Derby content. At one point we tried to pitch a whole Derby league but the fact that the 70's cars were getting hard to come by nobody wanted to invest too much in the idea.
Notice 3 of the finalists in the modified race are mid-60’s Imperials. This is because they had the heaviest gauge steel of all the makes. And their rear bumpers are especially lethal and protective due to their size. For these reasons, Many tracks don’t allow these Imperials in the events.
That impala at 24:10 also I personally think sedagons shouldn’t be allowed that’s modification that’s like chopping a roundback for stock class or changing rad supports or welding springs solid it’s not right it’s basically creasing
At 57:45 when he says he isn’t looking forward to the day all the old cars are gone we are pretty much there😣 another 10 years and you won’t be able to find a 70’s wagon or sedan to derby fuck man I thought somebody should have a business where they build old cars like the shell for derbies and remodels and shit that would be awesome but they’d have to get the molds
Nice greensburg i was over there today I miss these days man the old school derbies old cars I live like 40 minutes from greensburg they still do derbies there at the fairgrounds
Me and my gf were gonna go last year but didn’t I’m gonna go one of these times tho the point I was making is everywhere used to be old iron when I was a kid new Alexandria or greensburg which it shows on here they were all old iron hell I watched mark ciopa run all the time as a kid
Ridiculous they all cry they all could have prebent their frames and bodies 🤷♂️ I hate that shit don’t get me wrong I seen guys cheat but that ain’t a cheater his car folded like the others man these were the days lol 7 year old me Screaming lol
Man them old cars are tough but roofs are weak this is how they did it when I was a kid the late 90’s early 00’s they started promods around 20062007 where I live I miss the old days and old cars but shit was dangerous no cage no halo bar nothing lol
Greensburg I been there many times I live 45 minutes away from there the green burg fairgrounds always had great derby’s Indiana did too but small track new Alexandria was always my go to though
The problem is, how do you regulate it? Even honest derby teams will build their cars to the absolute limit of the rule. As @jonrajsl291 mentioned in their response, do you tell people not to pre-bend? Does that mean you can't allow previously-run cars to compete because they're effectively pre-bent from their previous runs? I know a lot of promoters don't inspect pre-run cars that closely, either, even if the car in question may have been built for a promotion whose car-prep rules are tighter or looser. Of course they do this because they want higher car-counts, but if you ask me, they might draw more if some of them didn't blatantly harass out-of-town drivers or let the hometown heroes get away with flagrant violations, but that has always been the nature of the sport. It comes down to the hassle and complication of putting a bunch of homemade wrecking machines together and at least give the appearance of everybody having the same chance. Far as I'm concerned, if the guy wants to spend the time and effort to make a sedagon within the rules, more power to him. I'd rather see that than blatant cheating, any day.
I don't know if you guys have access to video editing software, but you really should've considered editing the recorded commerical breaks out. It's not a huge deal to fast forward through the commercials or anything, but it is an unnecessary minor annoyance.
My early stuff I posted, I left commercials in because I figured people would like them since there’s entire channels full of old commercials. I found out quickly that wasn’t the case.
@@turnofthecenturymotorsport7746 you have nothing to apologize about its free content to be enjoyed and taken for what it's worth if its a annoyance you should just move on and not criticize someone that's actually putting content out there crazy as it might sound the people that bitch don't have any content to contribute
@@turnofthecenturymotorsport7746 Ah that explains it. Thank you. However I don't watch ads. On the TV we record everything and fast forward the ads. There are simply too many and it drives us nuts. Pretty soon it will be mostly ads as there does not seem to be a limit to amount of them. Sorry and I was really interested in your video.
@@John-oe5nb What's more impressive is that you took the time to type up a complaint instead of just scrubbing past the commercials that take one mouse click in a browser or two finger taps on a phone screen. Wait till you find out about the entire RU-vid channels that are just blocks of old commercials because people like watching them! Maybe your priorities are in the wrong place. Just sayin' . . . . . . .
@@mtfan Some of the old commercials are funny to watch, I agree, but they were not every few minutes and the same ones over and over again. It gets annoying. I did not know that there were people who seek out old commercials like the 'Where's the beef?" commercial. That was a classic. Thanks for your comments.
