Unused / unissued material - dates and locations unclear or unknown.
Inside engine rooms of Royal Navy warship. Various shots men adjusting machinery in boiler room. Officers enter and inspect their work. We see them reading instruments and dials. We see them putting on balaclavas - could be fire proof protection hood or just because they are cold? A Naval rating shows an officer a test tube. Officer looks at it and nods. Various shots of shells / torpedoes being loaded into gun barrel using mechanical grabber.

My Dad served on HMS Kale as the chief stoker 1939-46 He said he would be locked in under battle stations, and used to teach himself mirror writing as a distraction... that generation was made of far stronger stuff than we are.

They are donning flash gear as it looks like they are going to action stations, or General Quarters.

The gauge board at around 2 'minutes is the throttle board, that man is adjusting steam pressure to the turbines to make the engine match the speed being ordered down from the bridge.

It's no drill, this is real. You can tell by the tension on all the faces. Those shells look to be 14 inch, so a battleship.
