This my favourite engine in Diesel engine category> Its staring sound is very nice and professional. The ending sound that is deceleration sound is wonderful. I wonder where could I get the drawing of this loco, I really want to build a model for this type. Does Indian Railway has some source like we do in China sometimes they will issue you precise CAD drawing to help you manufacture model. Also USA manufacturers and EU manufacturers did so, also, Russian Transmasholding did this too. I don't know if there is any way to apply those drawings?

The main difference between AlCo locos and EDM/GE WDP4s is - the AlCOs are 4 stroke diesel (and more than 60 year old design) while the WDP4s/WDG4s are 2 stroke diesel (and 20 year old design) engines. Isn't it???

Simon Stichbury it is 4500 HP ... and the steel bars are for the protection from the stones on tracks or the birds and flying creatures... to avoid damage from them

Engine is good but sorry to say no facility for pilot if he wants to go to the toilet...what will he do...same go on the track...one side we go through a swach Bharat abhiya & on the other side the same position......so sad...

Lakin Sir, Mera favorite diesel engine WDP-4 KJM hai. Yei engine India mai bahut acha engine hai. Aisa wala engine aur develop karo jitna bhi WDM diesel engine hai usko replace karke WDP-4 Diesel engine chalna chahiye kyunki yei engine full speed chalta hai. Yei engine har state mai production hona chahiye aur jitna bhi express train main attach hokar chalna hai. WDP-4 KJM firse production chaliye aur engine pura failana hai.

the second one is not a release brake. it is a independent loco brake and first one is whole train brake.

I think the title of the video is creating confusion and should be changed to something more suitable because DP-4D is neither the fastest loco nor the fastest diesel loco of India. Anyway, the briefing is good. As you're a trainee, we would expect more such videos focusing on the intricacies and technicalities of locomotive and railway engineering. If possible, make tutorial videos for readers on the functioning of locos.

Be careful before making the choice. It's a lifelong commitment. You'll be away from wife for multiple days, assuming you find a wife who'll marry somebody who'll be out for long periods. I'd suggest do it like an internship (if that's even possible). Fulfill your craving and move on.

Reny you didn't told anything about its traction motors and not even about pneumatic pressure tank, wheel arrangement and nor a single word on engine description for V16 turbocharged 2 stroke diesel engine, it's max Rpm, horsepower, centrifugal governor.
