If finding and developing that camera isn't visual poetry, I don't know what is. I could only imagine the beautiful emotional roller coaster that would be visiting such a well preserved abandoned place. Thank you YES Theory for taking us along. With the power of the internet, it’s in the realm of possibility. I hope this eventually circles around and there is a reunion between the family & photos. If Yes Theory did some digging, take the dates from the developed photos + room number. Could then investigative into the Hotel’s records if they’re still around. This is a job for r/RBI or similar

I recently moved to Hachijojima to teach English on the island. This video is so beautiful and I feel so grateful to be on the island now. I managed to explore the Royal hotel a week or two ago and thought it was stunning. Very dangerous but also such a surreal feeling to the whole thing. That undeveloped film is an absolute gem of a find. I was looking to see if there was anything interesting like that, the best I found was the Piano in the room with all the vegetation. It would be so cool to film someone playing on it

What problems are we facing except crazy hysteria? The vegitation is increasing at a fantastic rate and we have all we need. I know that the business people want us all to buy a new car but that will not help or harm the planet in any way but it will make certain people slightly richer. The school in Ikeshima made me both happy and sad. I was happy that the staff members were still so enthusiastic about teaching those 3 kids but also sad about how quiet the school seem. I’m a preschool teacher and I adore the usual bustling noises of a busy school day and children laughing and chatting away at recess. Idk, my heart goes out to those teachers who’re trying to make the best of their situation.

Oh, the beauty of this decay! The segment with developed photos from the camera was touching. We find analog cameras in these abandoned sites all the time. We were thinking about developing the films in the past but never did it. Next time, we'll definitely do it, too! Thanks for sharing.

I'm so amazed by the second location, both regarding how 50% of it is completely weather torn, and the other 50% of rooms opposite some of the decayed ones are almost in pristine condition. I'm also so in awe of the developed photos you took. Knowing that young girl, is now probably older than you guys... it's eerie but also so fasinating. I wonder if they'll see this video :O

I'll always be amazed on how the Japanese people looked out for each other. I remember the news about the train station that was supposed to be closed down but not until their one and only passenger graduated and not need it. Just like those teachers teaching those kids.

For me, abandoned places are terrifying but also beautiful in a way. Some have so much history while others dont. When they picked up the camera and saw the pictures that were taken, it makes you wonder who that family is and if they're doing well

Your excellent videos remind me of the curiosity, empathy and care with which Shiey explores the world. He investigates, takes nothing, and moves on. He certainly puts himself in a state of discomfort as he moves through each adventure, and his empathy is directed more towards the animals he encounters throughout his journeys, but it is sincere, and he is an old soul. I’m new to your channel, but what you have is magical - more than Shiey, it is your interactions with the people you meet, and the connections you make that are so interesting…your night in the sumo dojo was awesome! It's hard to describe that feeling that abandoned places can give off. It's a mix of loneliness and emptiness. It's a reminder that time doesn't stop and eventually we are all forgotten. There are probably still people who have vivid and great memories of these places. All that remains now is the shell and a glimpse of the past. You can't help but wonder who lived and worked there and what their lives are like now. Memories remain but you can never revisit them. This is like walking in memories. Awesome video!

Leaving items behind when moving or abandoning a property is known as "mottainai" , that roughly means to "not waste that which is valueable" i.e. to avoid wasting things that still have value, even if they are no longer needed by the person leaving them behind, but could be useful for anyone who might stumble upon it. It's a very beautiful practice.

Staffan is the most empath a person can get. He not only feels with others around him at the time and understands the situation they are in, but also can feel great emotion of people in the past that don’t even know of his existence. These places are creepy. The contrast between an alive and busy city vs abandoned buildings and areas where natures is taking over. Places where there once was people living their lifes, enjoing holidays, having dinner conversations. Fascinating and strange at the same times. All my life, I have always fell in love with collecting different things, especially things with historical impact. Those developed photos are truly breathtaking, something like that where you find a strangers' childhood memories is a once in a lifetime find. I was searching through books in a Goodwill and found a photo of a stranger between the pages. I assume his wife donated the book after his passing, but it's crazy to uncover something valuable and a memory lost in time, just for the next person to find.

I can’t believe they visited that resort! I only learnt about the resort the other day when I stumbled upon it so I’m surprised to see a big RU-vid channel like Yes Theory do a video on it. I was looking up the Island and learning about it because I thought it would be interesting to live in such a place and then in the pictures on google I saw these pictures of this big abandoned hotel and I was intrigued. So I looked it up and read about it and I thought it was really interesting. When I saw the thumbnail for the video I was like “no way that’s the same hotel I’m thinking of. But it looks so much like it.” And then I clicked on the video and it was! I’m so surprised!

I could only dream of staying in such a beautiful and high end hotel but here it sits abandoned, with everything left where it was. There’s something surreal about seeing a place that should be so expensive and fancy being abandoned and taking over by nature.

This entire Video really gave me goosebumps. Especially the abandoned hotel gives this destinct feeling of loneliness. Truely special to see something that has been empty of people or use for so long and still so intact. Awesome video. But I feel like I have to somehow recover from it, wich shows how effective your film making is.

This is fascinating, surreal, and beautiful. Your storytelling, filming, and video editing skills are exceptional. Thanks for bringing this weird piece of reality into my living room :) The scenes from the hotel are really beautiful, and it feels especially strange and creepy that some people still choose to live on that abandoned island.

Awesome video!!! Seeing how spooked the piano playing made you at the first place I couldn’t help but wonder how you would have reacted if the phone in the apartment would have rang while you were standing there. It is amazing how everything is left untouched, no vandalism or graffiti all over. Speaks volumes about the culture. Greatly enjoyed everyone on this trip.

Enjoyed Staffan’s reflection at the end. Something that was meant to bring so much joy and entertainment is no longer there. Reflecting on that building shows that money can have a measure of protection, but how easily everything can be gone and lost just as fast.

What an immensely captivating video! It has everything: Beautiful cinematography and editing, two interesting and unique locations, and inspiration which urges one to think. I especially find the latter of great value, especially in times where entertainment is almost an antithesis to thinking, which this video shows doesn't have to be that way.
