普段はシャイな人が多い日本人ですが(関西は除く、笑)、お酒が入れば陽気な人が増えますwww日本語が全く話せない外国人の方でも、居酒屋では誰かが必ず助けてくれるはずですよ!

Many of you always ask if it's okay to go even if you don't speak Japanese... OF COURSE you can! Yes, communication might be hard but there is always a way around that and like this comment above says "Even if you can't speak Japanese, there must be someone in the shop that would be glad to help you out!". And I cannot agree more, especially in the rural areas people are usually more welcoming and friendly!

Nice info Angela, thx a lot for the video. May I ask, if is there a chance that local (japanese) shops like these will cheat unaware people especially tourists ? I was feeling once, in Osaka, when I paid for my bill, they charged me something that I didn't order. They said that it was the side dishes (something like pickles), which I though were given/provided free.

It is amazing how in the countryside the atmosphere is so friendly and laidback. Everyone cares for each other, which i feel is something that once you go to the city it becomes a very selfish society. I really love how you capture the atmosphere of the countryside and also the stories of each owner. Really really good video!!

Your videos are hidden gems, Angela! Hidden gems of slices of life in Japan. You are one of the few j-vloggers who actually chats with the local people in videos. You don’t just focus on the food or the products or the experiences being provided but you actually will interact with the shop owners or the servers or the tour guide or the fisherman/ artisan in a very open and friendly manner. I don’t know if it’s because you are actually conversant in Japanese whereas many of them aren’t or it’s because they don’t travel outside of Tokyo, where I gather the locals are more stand off-ish, which can happen in big cities. You can tell a lot of them don’t want to interact with the locals other than sell me the stuff so I can show it in video. As other commenters have noted you are a person who is open to meeting new people and trying new experiences which is reflected in your chats and encounters with other people. Sorry for the long rambling comment. Just wanted to point out why I think your channel is so unique and special.

Aww thank you - that's very kind and sweet of you to say! For me, visiting a place is barely not as interesting if you don't know the story behind the place and usually that's when the locals come in and tell you first hand :)

Thank you for another wonderful video! It's amazing how these local restaurants have their own unique flavors. And I completely agree with you; I do believe it's the locals who shape and mold each corner of these shops and towns. From your videos, I could feel the honesty, kindness, and humility of these locals. And I do feel that interacting with the locals is one of the best ways to truly understand a place. I always admire those who go back to their birthplaces full of knowledge and skills to help improve local communities. I know that is always not an easy decision to make as they are forgoing a lot of opportunities. But I am happy that you were able to show all the benefits of the local countryside and all the greatness to see and feel and eat!!! ^^
