A few weeks ago we had an exclusive look inside London's secret island of hippy artists. An island south of London's river Thames which is only open to the public twice a year. It's called Eel Pie Island and has an incredible history of rock n roll, hippy culture, and art. After a turbulent past, it is now home to many talented artists, from painters to sculptors. We visited the island, with the goal to discover more about its history as well as talking to some of the artists. As we are trying to pursue a creative path, we wanted to learn from Eel Pie island's artists to know if turning your passion into a profession is actually worth it?

Yess, definitely got inspo from Johnny on this one! And thank youuuu, appreciate the kind words- it really means a lot! Sometimes we get so caught up in chasing our goals that we forget that we've already accomplished a lot of what we wanted! Appreciate you for reminding us and grateful to have crossed paths with you too 💛

Wow! Thank you for leting us discover Eel Pie Island! No idea it existed before! Very cool place and people. Another beautiful video! The Ikigai model is definitely something to keep in mind in our search for what we can do to follow our passion and financially support ourselves. Not easy at all! But worth trying! This one speaks to me big time. I've often thought about the concept of Ikigai, and the part I struggle with most is "what the world needs". How does my art contribute to the world? Honestly I dont know, beyond simple, brief entertainment haha but I hope to figure it out someday. I agree with Simon so much, it wasn't/isn't an easy road but for me personally, has been so worth it even while I'm still early in the journey. Like he said art feeds the soul, in my opinion for both the creator and the viewer. Would lo ve to visit this place! Awesome as always guys, I'm catching up on the vids I missed 😊

Ahh glad to hear this episode spoke to you! We love your art and we are excited to see you figure out your Ikigai 💛 How is the pokemon niche? I would imagine that there are quite a few ways to sell your art and be discovered given the die-hard pokemon enthusiasts that are out there? 😁

@@SteAndRach aw thanks legends! Yeah Pokemon is quite a timeless franchise, hasnt gone out of popularity yet which is great. Selling prints and doing custom commissions has been fun

AND THEN TAKE ALL YOUR MONEY AND RUN! 😂🤣 Great video, guys. It's incredible to know that this place exists - a little world within a world that is so unique that it doesn't quite seem to fit into our time. It was awesome to see all of those artists following their passions, and it's my dream to some day make a dime off of my writing. It's a big question whether your passion is worth turning into a career, but wholeheartedly I believe that it is, because: if you're doing what you love, you never have to work a single day in your life! And to me that's more valuable than money.
@SteAndRach
@SteAndRach Год назад
haha thanks Abi!! The place really is incredible and it was super interesting to get a glimpse into the island's past as well as the lives of the artists 🙌 We are rooting for you and can't wait to read some of your writing 😁 Is the dream to publish a book? 💛
