Brighton, loved the tour, we just moved to El Centenario a week ago. Settling in we live on Calle 16. Just took our Black Lab, Sagie, to your vet JOJO. she really helped in relaxing her. Anyway I watched your video on doctors and took down your information on her. Is it okay to call her we plan on just paying the cost of office visits. We too are from Oregon, Springfield and Beaverton. Love your videos and your house is beautiful. Rick and Kelly Logan

Would people wander up on your patio without glass wall? I love the individual private rooms rather than an open floor plan. Good idea with the white tile--cooler and makes space look bigger. That cei ling is spectaculor.
@AlmostRetiredinMexico
@AlmostRetiredinMexico Год назад
Thanks! The white tile makes the space really bright, but it's on top of some really cool stone tile. I'm not sure when they installed that, but we found the old stone in the bottom of a cabinet. We'd definitely have dogs in our yard without the glass wall, and also people. Someone told me a fence is required if you want to keep people off your property. No such thing as "posted no trespassing" in Mexico I guess.

Ha ha ahhhh its so funny you say that about the video feed that says Im gonna jump in that pool,,its some dude tallkn about metabolism busting. I have been getting that exact same adtg. for over a year....Anyway, I love your videos, thanks for all the info on Mexico. I am Canadian and am getting ready to pull the trigger to spend at least the winter months somewhere close to the desert. I am attracted to everything in Mexico, because Canada is no longer the great country that it once was. Cant wait to become a permanent resident. ps. I love your dogs, they are the cutest.

@Almost Retired in Mexico oh boy! I bet it gets a bit harder each time you traverse back to the states. We went camping in Palm Springs for 2 weeks in April. We were just sick of the winter, so we ran to the desert. It was a costly trip for us as we bought a condo there.

Hello: Didn't find a quote on your cost. Interested in ballpark cost for your home, minus the casita and live-in housekeeper. Also, as you make references to La Paz across the water, but your video says your home is IN La Paz, does La Paz extend kind of horsehoe fashion all the way around that bay? Thanks for your review. Joel from Arizona
@AlmostRetiredinMexico
@AlmostRetiredinMexico Год назад
Hey Joel. Our home is technically in El Centenario which is like a suburb of La Paz. It’s about a 10 minute drive to the official edge of the city. The house would cost about $275k - that’s my guess.

Are you concerned leaving your place for several months or more? B&E's down in La Ventana are a real problem. Do you have someone watching your property? A video on how you manage your property when you are not there would be interesting.
@AlmostRetiredinMexico
@AlmostRetiredinMexico Год назад
Thanks for the management video idea. We have a caretaker who lives in the casita when we aren't there (he lives down the street with his parents the rest of the year.) Plus we have lots of cameras and a security system.
@canucck
@canucck Год назад
@@AlmostRetiredinMexico The caretaker is the ticket. In La Ventana and El Sargento, the people with caretakers don't get broken into, the ones who just pack up and go when the hot weather arrives often get quickly broken into, often within a few days of their departure. Big heavy steel doors and cameras often don't make a difference, especially when you are a quarter mile or farther off the main road there. It's a big problem. Looking forward to hearing your take in a future video.
@AlmostRetiredinMexico
@AlmostRetiredinMexico Год назад
@@canucck we’ve been told not to leave our place unattended. We are right on the beach, so it’s easy to get in and out quickly. We pay our caretaker $2000pesos a month to keep it safe, flush the toilets, make it look lived in, clean up after hurricanes…

When you have a chance could you make a detailed description of how you sign up for each of your utilities, pay the bills and decide which to select (phone, mobile, gas water, electricity, internet)?? Everybody talks about the expenses but nobody describes the actual process of setting up the utilities when they move to Mexico.
