Last swam in this pool in 1975, back then it was very run down and it wasnt unusual to see large cockroaches scuttling about and floating on the water. To a 16 year old me, it was just a run down part of Birminghams infrastructure that was probably best to avoid if possible. Looking at it via this video today 50 plus years on , I am amazed it has managed to survive and appreciate seeing the restored architecture which obviously represents something special and will never be seen again in future new construction .
Many happy hours I spent in these baths. I learnt to swim there back in 1956 and used these baths during my time with the 10th Birmingham Boys Brigade which was located on the other side of the road at Moseley Road Methodist church. We used the second pool on a Friday night, which was great fun as we could use flippers and snorkels. Let me know when another tour is planned I would like see view the old building again.
Hello Robert Gauder, thank you for sharing your childhood memories with us. Here is the website of the Friends of Moseley Rd Baths friendsofmrb.co.uk. If you sign up to their mailing list, you'll receive an email as soon as another tour is planned (this is how I found out about this one). Thanks for watching 🙂
Look 😄😅 When I saw Janet I thought "I'm sure I met her before, her face looks familiar". And now that you say that, I'm like "Yes you're right!" She does look like the Queen 😀
