Inside North Korea: Mass Games & Defector Reality Stars | Unreported World | Free Documentary
Unreported World - Italy's Mafia Hunters: • Italy's Mafia Hunters ...
00:00:00 North Korea's Greatest Show
Is North Korea changing? Its relations with the rest of the world appear to be thawing after last year’s ‘rocket man’ nuclear missile crisis but does this mean anything is actually changing inside this hermit kingdom? Unreported World joined a business trip aimed at attracting foreign investment just as the country prepared to celebrate its 70th anniversary. Included in Marcel Theroux’s tour is a visit to what North Korea has described as its ‘Benidorm’, the Wonson beach resort, and the country’s only ski resort. But his highlight is a seat at the first Mass Games, the largest choreographed gymnastics event in the world in the world’s biggest stadium, taking place for the first time in five years. The theme of the Games is peace but did he believe the country is really opening up?
00:24:06 North Korea's Reality Stars
Unreported World explores the new genre of primetime TV shows gripping South Korea: 'Defector TV'. For more than half a century North Korea has remained the most closed-off, repressive regime on the planet, fuelling fear and propaganda in South Korea. Now, some of the 30,000 North Korean defectors are finding fame and celebrity on ‘Defector TV' shows and social media by revealing the truth about life under the Kim dynasty. Other defectors-cum-activists are funnelling information in and out across the border in an attempt to undermine Kim Jong-un’s grip on power. Seyi Rhodes investigates what is being coined ‘The Information War’. At every turn this film will reflect what's really happening inside the secret state of North Korea.

Yeah this is all a thing of the past. 2017 and now are so different, its like day and night. Covid made the whole place more isolated than it has ever been, and it still has even barely possibilities for diplomats (!) to enter. The unification-statue was torn down, and the new credo is "there cannot be a peaceful reunification anymore", outsider are all to be kept out, and the preparation for a full war is ongoing. The video has more historical value, despite it being only 7 years old

I lived in S. Korea from Oct.1986 to April 1989. I loved it there and at the time I could have stayed there forever. I cried for two days when I left. The thing I remember missing while living in S.Korea was fresh milk. I have so many memories of all the adventures exploring the country. The people were friendly, the food was different. The culture was different. What wasn't different was the wish/dream S. Koreans had for their country. The answer always the same, for North and South to be reunited. It is a beautiful country.

The blonde woman taking the tour around 7:32. Isn't that the blue/black or white/gold controversy dress?

Why would you show the minder napping on the bus? He’s probably now at some work camp chopping rocks in Half

I have a different perspective to all these. I am originally from Hong Kong, the media always says Hong Kong is controlled heavily by china, n if you speak out you get arrested. Which is completely false, HK is still by far one of the most free country in the world. There are anti-china people in HK, n they make a fuss about everything. Like they openly threaten China and call for independence, which is not something any government would support. Imagine if Texas call for independence in US, or NSW call for independence in Australia. Its just not gonna happen. And the thing is those people in hk legit caused chaos to everyday citizen to try make it happen. life was hell back then when those ppl just keep causing troubles. If you live your everyday life like a normal person, HK is as free as u can get. However, in this case, North Korea, I would be very keen to know what is it really like, just from what I see on media, it is very bad. And the fact that people are afraid to speak out says alot.

The people od dprk are actually very sweet and hard working. Such resilient people. Much respect to the average N. Korean.
