On the day of Alexei Navalny's funeral there was a memorial for him with flowers and candles in front of the Russian embassy in Berlin, I was there, I wish I could do more - but I am not sure whether people deserve the sacrifice of Navalny or the sacrifice that you and your husband are making, so many people just think about themselves and their own advantages.

Mrs. Kara-Murza responded somewhat indignantly to the question about why the Russian people don't do something about Putin *What do you expect them to do? They get arrested for the slightest acts that Putin doesn't like.* And so on. More or less excusing their self-preservation inaction. So that makes me want to ask her husband, who went back there saying, How can I get the people to act unless I go back there myself. I ask him the same then: What did you expect them to do when you showed up? It is so sad that these martyrdoms are simply wasted on a numbed out population, of which most of the smart people have run away already. And NOW people are working to get him released from captivity? Does he want to be a martyr or does he want to be rescued? He could have continued to work against Putin's regime from outside the country as he had been doing instead of getting himself locked up and tortured to death. Why? So that in the future people can look back and say, Let's make a commemorative plaque for these martyrs? What a waste.
