I only got to spend 10 years messing with film at a theater after high school. In 2007, the projectors were changing because of 3d cinema at the time. In 2010, all the theaters went digital except for the imax that the company had. The following year even that became digital and I was looking for a different line of work. I truly miss working with film. I was glad to at least experience that before the change to digital.
I know most of us do it without thinking, but it’s hard listening to a person talk when they constantly use uh 🙄 in between sentences. The film is 70mm thick.uh and 15 per frame.uh you know what I mean.uh. Thanks.uh.
@Federal Bureau of Investigation of RU-vid Yes, except for IMAX. There is no such thing as digital IMAX, and there won't be until the entire cinema workflow from camera to projector can be done in at least 8K resolution.
I’ve been a 35 mm projectionist for 20 years and man, is this impressive. Starting digital movies now takes about 20 sec. People ask me now and then if digital projection has changed things a lot. My reply: If you can teach a chimpansee to work with a smartphone he could easily do the job.
These massively old people should retire! I’m a younger man that’s been waiting a very long time to become a projectionist but these old senior citizens are like “I’ve been here for 48 years!!” Then fuckin retire!! You lived your dream now let a young person live theirs!
