Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco is a United States Coast Guard Air Station located at the San Francisco International Airport. The air station sits adjacent to the airport which consists of its own ramp, one hangar, an administration building and several other support structures.
"Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco was opened on February 15, 1941 and housed a PBY-5 Catalina and two RD-4 Dolphins. During WWII the station was tasked with Search and Rescue, coast patrols and the construction of the Long Range Aid to Navigation (LORAN) system. Since that time, the air station has seen many different aircraft but continues its mission of search and rescue and law enforcement up and down the northern California coast."
